Cairns Baseball League
Baseball Queensland is the governing body of baseball within Queensland. Baseball Queensland is governed by the Australian Baseball Federation. It is located in Milton, Queensland and run by chief executive officer Col Dick. It is also the governing bodies that picks the Queensland Rams team that competes in the Claxton Shield. It also picks U14, U16 and U18 state teams and Greater Brisbane League All-Star teams, the largest competition in Queensland. It runs all regional bodies in Queensland and the far north coast of New South Wales and also controls the Queensland Umpires, Scorers and Coaches associations. Controversy In November 2008, the Pine Rivers Rapids announced their interest in a breakaway league from the Greater Brisbane League that Baseball Queensland runs. Australian National Baseball Team
The Australian national baseball team represents Australia in international baseball tournaments and competitions. It is ranked as the top team in Oceania, and is the Oceanian Champion, having been awarded the title in 2007 when New Zealand withdrew from the Oceania Baseball Championship. After achieving a last (16th) place in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, its rank dropped to 13, which is the lowest rank Australia ever received. The Windsor Royals, originally known simply as Windsor baseball club and formerly the Windsor Engineers is a baseball club that participates in the Greater Brisbane League competition and Brisbane Metro Baseball competition. History The 1948-1954 Windsor Engineers was the foundation of the Royals club, instituted by local Member of Parliament Bob Windsor. The club held its first official meeting on 5 May 1955 and first match two days later at Spencer Park. By 1958 the club had its first junior team and foundation members Stan Holloway and Eddie Tyler were made life members. The Pine Hills Lightning Baseball Club is a baseball club that participates in the Greater Brisbane League competition and Brisbane Metropolitan Region competition. It is the 4th largest baseball club in Australia and second largest after the Redcliffe Padres in Queensland. History In 1984 the club was formed, originally known as the Mitchelton Unicorns. The club shared playing fields at Mitchelton, Queensland with Wests Mitchelton Rugby League Club for a handful of Tee-ball teams. Whilst the fields were only ever used in the rugby league offseason, relations were often uneasy between the two parties. This coupled with a vision of baseball participation expanding rapidly started the search for bigger fields. The club moved and commenced using the new Bunya fields in 1990.
