Cain Ackland
Cain Jed Ackland (born 16 March 1982) is an Australian rules football player formerly in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club Port Adelaide Magpies, Ackland was drafted by Port Adelaide in the second round of the 1999 AFL Draft. He made his AFL debut in 2001, playing twelve games but did not play another senior game for Port in three seasons and was delisted at the end of the 2004 AFL season. , who had a shortage of quality ruckman, especially following the departure of Trent Knobel, selected Ackland in the second round of the 2004 AFL Draft. He played 22 games during the 2005 AFL season and earned the Rex Hunt nickname "The Street" in his commentary, in reference to the St Kilda nightspot Acland Street. North Adelaide Football Club
North Adelaide Football Club, nicknamed The Roosters, is an Australian rules football club affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The club plays its home games at Prospect Oval, located in Prospect, a northern suburb of Adelaide. The club joined the SAFA in 1888 as the Medindie Football Club (nickname Dingoes), changing its name to North Adelaide in 1893. It is the fourth oldest club still in operation in the SANFL after South Adelaide (1877), Port Adelaide (1877) and Norwood (1878). The 2006 AFL season was the 110th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. First published on 21 November 1840, the ''Geelong Advertiser'' is the oldest newspaper title in Victoria and the second-oldest in Australia. The newspaper is currently owned by News Corp. The Geelong Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league in Victoria, Australia. It is widely regarded as the highest standard Australian rules football league in regional Victoria, with several former AFL players now playing for a variety of clubs. History The league was formed in 1979 when twelve clubs broke away from the Geelong & District Football League. The city and country clubs of the old GDFL were divided into the major league competition of the GFL and the minor league of the GDFL. Many of the teams in the lower league wanted a system of promotion and relegation, which was fought by the GFL until the early 1980s when the Victorian Country Football League held a hearing in Melbourne.
