Cahokia Conference
The Cahokia Conference is a high school athletic and competitive activity organization which currently consists of 18 schools in southwestern Illinois. All of the schools are located in Clinton County, Illinois, Clinton, Madison County, Illinois, Madison, Marion County, Illinois, Marion, Monroe County, Illinois, Monroe, Randolph County, Illinois, Randolph, St. Clair County, Illinois, St. Clair, and Washington County, Illinois, Washington counties. The conference began in 1928. List of member schools Dupo High School, Dupo is a member of the Cahokia Conference in all sports except football, where it competes in the Prairie State Conference starting with the 2017 season. Illinois High School Association
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) is an association that regulates competition of interscholastic sports and some interscholastic activities at the high school level for the state of Illinois. It is a charter member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The IHSA regulates 14 sports for boys, 15 sports for girls, and eight co-educational non-athletic activities. More than 760 public and private high schools in the state of Illinois are members of the IHSA. The Association's offices are in Bloomington, Illinois. Apollo Conference
The Apollo Conference is a high school athletic conference represented by 6 schools in the central portion of Illinois. It is a member of the Illinois High School Association. The conference offers championships for girls in basketball, cross country, golf, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. Salem is a city in and the county seat of Marion County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,282 at the 2020 census. History Salem was founded in 1823 as the county seat of the newly formed Marion County. South Central Conference (Illinois)
The South Central Conference (SCC) is a conference in South Central Illinois made up of ten schools. The SCC was established in 1926 with ten charter schools. The current schools are all full members of the Illinois High School Association. History Named for its location in the state of Illinois, the South Central Conference was formed in 1926 with 10 schools. The charter schools included; Carlinville, Gillespie, Hillsboro, Litchfield, Mt. Olive, Nokomis, Pana, Shelbyville, Staunton and Taylorville. Only six years into the league, however, Shelbyville would drop out in 1932 and Litchfield would follow in 1934. Benld High School would join in 1935 and the conference would stay status quo for 10 years. A wave of change occurred in 1944 as Hillsboro, Nokomis, Pana and Taylorville would all leave the South Central for the newly formed Mid State Conference. Freeburg Community High School is a high school located in Freeburg, Illinois, United States. The Freeburg Community High School District #77 controls it. Freeburg Community High School was founded in 1904 as a two-year school and graduated its first class of four students in 1906. In 1923, after converting to a traditional four-year high school, two students were presented with Freeburg High School diplomas. The existing school was constructed in 1929, becoming "Home of the Freeburg Midgets." The original mascot was named Marty the Midget, a name that lasted through the nineteen sixties. Kaskaskia Conference
The Kaskaskia were a historical Indigenous people of the Northeastern Woodlands. They were one of about a dozen cognate tribes that made up the Illiniwek Confederation, also called the Illinois Confederation. Their longstanding homeland was in the Great Lakes region.
