CB Menorca
Club Bàsquet Menorca is a Spanish basketball club based in Mahón, Balearic Islands. History Bàsquet Menorca was founded in 2016 with the aim to reach again the professional basketball after the dissolution of former Liga ACB team Menorca Bàsquet. In its first season, the club played in Liga EBA with the place of the Balearic multi-sports club CCE Sant Lluís, based in the namesake municipality that played the previous season in the same league. The 2017–18 season was the first one of the club with the name of Club Bàsquet Menorca, starting to play its home matches at Pavelló Menorca. LEB Oro
The Primera FEB, formerly known as LEB or LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system after the Liga ACB. It is run by the Spanish Basketball Federation, FEB. The FEB leagues are divided into three categories (the other two are the Segunda FEB and the Tercera FEB). The league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. The league is contested by 18 clubs. Each season, the top-finishing team in the Primera FEB are automatically promoted to the Liga ACB. The teams that finish the season in 2nd to 9th place enter a playoff tournament, with the winner also gaining promotion to the Liga ACB. The three lowest-finishing teams in the Primera FEB are relegated to Segunda FEB. Club Baloncesto Ciudad de Ponferrada, also known as Clínica Ponferrada SDP for sponsorship reasons, is a basketball club based in Ponferrada, Spain. The team plays in the Segunda FEB. It home arena is the Pabellón Lydia Valentín. History CB Ciudad de Ponferrada was founded in 2002 with the aim to replace the former team JT, that ceased in activity. The club started playing in the fifth tier and five years later, achieved their first promotion to Liga EBA. However, Ciudad de Ponferrada could not remain in the Liga EBA and was relegated again. After some years between regional and provincial leagues, in 2013 the club failed to promote again in the final stage played in Ponferrada. 2024–25 Spain Cup
The 2024–25 Spain Cup was the inaugural edition of the Spain Cup, a men's basketball competition created with the aim to replace the Copa Princesa de Asturias and the Copa LEB Plata. It was played by teams competing in the 2024–25 season of the Primera FEB and the Segunda FEB. Silbö San Pablo Burgos achieved the first title of the history of the competition in front of its supporters devoted to their team. The 2020–21 LEB Plata season was the 21st season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 10 October 2020 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 29 May 2021 with the promotion playoffs. It was the following season after the 2019–20 season was curtailed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, there were not relegations to Liga EBA and the league was expanded to 28 teams, record of the league, for this season. COVID-19 Pandemic In Spain
The COVID-19 pandemic in Spain has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The virus was first confirmed to have spread to Spain on 31 January 2020, when a German tourist tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in La Gomera, Canary Islands. The 2019–20 LEB Plata season was the 20th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 21 September 2019 with the first round of the regular season and was curtailed on 25 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format changes On 8 June 2019, the General Assembly of the Spanish Basketball Federation agreed to expand the promotion playoffs to eight teams, being these from the second to the ninth qualified of the Group A1 of the second stage and the winner of the Group A2.
