Conchoraptor Gracilis
''Conchoraptor'' (meaning "conch plunderer") is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaurs that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous epoch, about 70 million years ago. It is known from the Barun Goyot and Nemegt formations of Mongolia. Discovery When first discovered in the Red Beds of Hermiin Tsav of the Early Maastrichtian Nemegt Formation by a Polish-Mongolian expedition in 1971, scientists believed that ''Conchoraptor'' was a juvenile ''Oviraptor'' and that the animal's missing crest would have begun to grow when the animal reached sexual maturity. Further study of multiple skeletons showed that ''Conchoraptor'' belonged in a new genus. The hands of ''Conchoraptor'' were a major reason that scientists decided to split it off from ''Oviraptor''. Anatomically the hands seemed to be an evolutionary intermediate between those of ''Ajancingenia'' and ''Oviraptor'', making it obvious that this animal was not a member of a known species. The type species of this new genus, ''Conchoraptor ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Cricosaurus Gracilis
''Cricosaurus'' is an extinct genus of marine crocodyliforms of the Late Jurassic. belonging to the family Metriorhynchidae. The genus was established by Johann Andreas Wagner in 1858 for three skulls from the Tithonian (Late Jurassic) of Germany. The name ''Cricosaurus'' means "Ring lizard", and is derived from the Greek '- ("ring") and -' ("lizard"). It was a relatively small reptile, with ''C. suevicus'' and ''C. araucanensis'' measuring and in total body length, respectively. Discovery ''Cricosaurus'' was first named by Wagner in 1858,Wagner A. 1858. Zur Kenntniss der Saurier aus den lithographischen Schiefern. Cordicephalus Gracilis
''Nevobatrachus gracilis'' is the only species in the extinct genus ''Nevobatrachus'', a genus of prehistoric frogs. The original generic name of this frog was ''Cordicephalus'' Nevo (1968); however, this generic name turned out to be preoccupied by a cestode genus ''Cordicephalus'' Wardle, McLeod & Stewart (1947), which remains nomenclaturally available in spite of being considered a junior synonym of the diphyllobothriid genus ''Pyramicocephalus''. Mahony (2019) coined a replacement name ''Nevobatrachus''. Fossils of ''N. gracilis'' were found in a lacustrine deposit in Makhtesh Ramon called "Amphibian Hill" and it is believed they lived during the Lower Cretaceous. When first described by Eviatar Nevo of the University of Haifa (in 1968) the genus ''Cordicephalus'' was thought to contain two species, ''C. gracilis'' and ''C. longicostatus''. Since then it was redescribed and it was determined that ''N. gracilis'' was the only species in the genus. Etymology The original gen ...
