2007–08 PBA Season
The 2007–08 PBA season was the 33rd season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The season was formally opened on October 14, 2007, at the Araneta Coliseum. The league started the season with the Philippine Cup, or the traditional All-Filipino Conference, while capping off the season with the import-laiden Fiesta Conference. Renauld "Sonny" Barrios was appointed as commissioner while serving as an officer in charge of the league until a replacement for former commissioner Noli Eala will be found. The first activity of the season was the 2007 PBA Draft last August 19 at the Market Market in Taguig. PBA On ABC
''PBA on ABC'' (later renamed as ''PBA on TV5'') is a Philippine television sports presentation show broadcast by ABC/TV5. It aired from February 22, 2004 to August 20, 2008, replacing '' Ispup'' and ''Friday Box Office'' and was replaced by '' Lokomoko'', '' Lipgloss'' and ''HushHush''. The consist of branding used for presentation of Philippine Basketball Association. History Due to poor performance and disappointing ratings, the PBA disbanded a broadcasting consortium between the National Broadcasting Network and the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation after the 2003 season, and took bids on a new broadcast contract for the league. In January 2004, the PBA began a contract with the Associated Broadcasting Company to broadcast PBA games for one year, beating bids from Solar Sports and former Vintage Television owner Bobong Velez’s attempt to form GMA Network’s sports division. Alaska Aces (PBA)
The Alaska Aces were a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association since 1986 PBA season, 1986 under the ownership of Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) and the owner of 14 PBA championships, tied with the Magnolia Hotshots for the third-most titles overall. They were one of the most popular teams in the league and the Philippines. The Aces won nine PBA championships in the 1990s, including a rare Grand Slam (PBA), grand slam (winning three championships in one season) during the 1996 PBA season, 1996 season, joining the Crispa Redmanizers (1976 PBA season, 1976, 1983 PBA season, 1983), San Miguel Beermen (1989 PBA season, 1989), and the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers (2013–14 PBA season, 2013–14) as one of only four franchises to achieve the feat. Ely Capacio
Eliezer "Ely" O. Capacio (March 14, 1955 – February 23, 2014) was a Filipino basketball player, coach and executive. Born in Palo, Leyte, Philippines, he played a total of eight seasons as a forward-center for the Tanduay Rhum Makers from 1979 to 1986, averaging 5.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in a total of 324 games. The team won two championships during the 1986 PBA season. His younger brother, Glenn Capacio also played in the PBA. Amateur career The 6-4 center-forward was a veteran of the 1975 and 1977 Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) championships and the 1977 SEA games. The Powerade Tigers were a professional basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association from 2002 to 2012. The franchise was owned by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc.
