Don Burgers
Donatus Clemens Bernard "Don" Burgers (26 February 1932 – 30 January 2006) was a Dutch politician for the KVP and later the CDA. Burgers was born in Ubbergen. After working for the police and later the government he was elected mayor of Haaren in 1972, and in 1979 became mayor of Rosmalen until 1989. In that year he became mayor of 's-Hertogenbosch, the capital of the Dutch province of North Brabant. In 1996 he retired. He remained active after his retirement as acting mayor of Middelburg (1996–1997; the capital of the province of Zeeland), Almelo (1997–1998) and again of Middelburg (2000–2001). He was also vice-chairman of the churchboard of the St. John's Cathedral and honorary consul to Romania. Burgers died at 73 years of age during a vacation in Innsbruck, due to a pulmonary embolism. He is buried at begraafplaats Groenendaal in Orthen, a neighbourhood of 's-Hertogenbosch.

Johannes (Jan) Martinus Burgers (January 13, 1895 – June 7, 1981) was a Dutch physicist and the brother of the physicist Wilhelm G. Burgers. Burgers studied in Leiden under Paul Ehrenfest, where he obtained his PhD in 1918. He is credited to be the father of Burgers' equation, the Burgers vector in dislocation theory and the Burgers material in viscoelasticity. Jan Burgers was one of the co-founders of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM) in 1946, and was its secretary-general from 1946 until 1952. In 1931 he became member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, in 1955 he became foreign member. Early life and education Burgers was born in Arnhem, Netherlands. Johannes Gerhardus Hendrikus Burgers (31 January 1870 – 12 June 1943) was in 1913 the founder of ''Burgers' Dierenpark'', nowadays called Royal Burgers' Zoo. He was the owner and director of it until 1939. His youngest daughter Lucie Burgers was his successor, with her husband Reinier van Hooff. Nathan Burgers (born May 1979 in Ayr, Queensland) is an Australian professional field hockey goalkeeper. He played for Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory teams in national competitions.
