Bunny Allen
Frank Maurice Allen known as "Bunny Allen" (17 April 1906, in Upton Cum Chalvey, Buckinghamshire, England – 14 January 2002, in Lamu Island) was a renowned white hunter and safari guide in Kenya. Biography Allen earned the nickname "Bunny" from a Gypsy hunting companion in England for his proficiency in snaring rabbits in Windsor Forest. He was educated at Sir William Borlase's Grammar School, Marlow, Buckinghamshire. He arrived in Kenya in 1927 to join his two brothers. He found work managing a farm for Mervyn Soames where he took guests out shooting. His bush expertise drew respect from the locals and he became a hunting partner of Denys Finch Hatton. He took part in three Royal Safaris including one where he captured cheetah by driving alongside them as they ran and jumping on their backs. Upton, Slough
Upton is a suburb of Slough, in the Slough district, in the ceremonial county of Berkshire, England. Until the local government reforms of 1974 it was in Buckinghamshire. It was one of the villages that developed into the town. History The Domesday Survey of 1086 refers to Upton, and a wood for 200 pigs, worth £15. Upton took its name from its situation at the top of the slope from the river terrace — the various levels in the area having been formed in the Ice-Age. The ancient parish, and the civil parish until 1894, included Chalvey and Slough, originally hamlets, and was formally known as Upton-cum-Chalvey. In 1894 the new civil parish of Slough was formed from the parish. In 1895 a detached part of the parish was transferred to Gerrards Cross, and in 1900 and 1901 the rump of the parish was divided between the neighbouring parishes of Eton, Langley Marish, Slough and Wexham. ''Mogambo'' is a 1953 Technicolor adventure/ romantic drama film directed by John Ford and starring Clark Gable, Ava Gardner, and Grace Kelly, and featuring Donald Sinden. Shot on location in Equatorial Africa, with a musical soundtrack consisting entirely of actual African tribal music recorded in the Congo, the film was adapted by John Lee Mahin from the play ''Red Dust'' by Wilson Collison. The picture is a remake of '' Red Dust'' (1932), which was set in Vietnam and also starred Gable in the same role. Although the original trailer for the film explains that "Mogambo" means "the Greatest," in fact, the word "Mogambo" has no meaning at all.
