Brookville BL36PH
The Brookville BL36PH is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive for commuter trains, produced by Brookville Equipment Corporation. It is built with an MTU 20V4000 V20 engine rated at to meet EPA Tier 3 emissions standards. It was the first North American passenger locomotive designed with a 20-cylinder engine since the EMD SDP45 and EMD FP45, originally built in the 1960s. Head end power is generated by a separate, smaller diesel (Caterpillar C-18) generator rated at . The outer shell of the locomotive was designed by Cesar Vergara, who has also designed several other North American passenger locomotives, including the MPI MPXpress, the GE Genesis, the MPI HSP46 and the EMD F59PHI. A diesel locomotive is a type of railway locomotive in which the prime mover is a diesel engine. EMD F59PH
The EMD F59PH is a four-axle B-B diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division from 1988 to 1994. A variant, the F59PHI, was produced from 1994 to 2001. The F59PH was originally built for GO Transit commuter operation in the Toronto region. Metrolink in Southern California also purchased a fleet for its 1992 launch. The streamlined F59PHI was designed for Amtrak California intercity service. A total of 72 F59PH and 83 F59PHI locomotives were built. F59PH Between May 1988 and May 1994, 72 F59PH locomotives were built for two commuter transit railroads: GO Transit of Toronto and Metrolink of Los Angeles. The MPI HSP46 is a four-axle AC-traction diesel-electric locomotive for commuter trains, designed and assembled by MotivePower. It meets EPA Tier 3 emissions standards. The launch customer is the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), whose first unit entered revenue service in April 2014. Design The locomotives are powered by GE GEVO-12 diesel engines from GE Transportation Systems, equipped with a static inverter for head end power, and capable of meeting the stringent new Tier 3 emissions regulations.
