Bronx Times-Reporter
The ''Bronx Times-Reporter'' is a weekly newspaper published in the Bronx, New York. It was co-founded in 1981 by John Collazzi and Assemblyman Michael Benedetto. The ''Bronx Times-Reporter'' covers local news and publishes columns by local community organizations. It is sold on many local newsstands and available through subscription. Many branches of the New York Public Library in the Bronx have back issues of the paper. The paper has three editions, all of which publish on Thursdays: a ''Bronx Times-Reporter'' that covers Throggs Neck, one that covers Morris Park, and a third paper, called the ''Bronx Times'', that covers news from Castle Hill, Parkchester, and surrounding neighborhoods, and is distributed for free. Tabloid (newspaper Format)
A tabloid is a newspaper with a compact page size smaller than broadsheet. There is no standard size for this newspaper format. Etymology The word ''tabloid'' comes from the name given by the London-based pharmaceutical company Burroughs Wellcome & Co. to the compressed tablets they marketed as "Tabloid" pills in the late 1880s. The connotation of ''tabloid'' was soon applied to other small compressed items. A 1902 item in London's ''Westminster Gazette'' noted, "The proprietor intends to give in tabloid form all the news printed by other journals." Thus ''tabloid journalism'' in 1901, originally meant a paper that condensed stories into a simplified, easily absorbed format. Schneps Media is a 1985-founded media company "that began with The Queens Courier." They own and operate both print and online news services. ''The New York Times'' wrote in 2019 that ''Schneps'' publishes "more than 50 newspapers and magazines." They also have a unit named ''Schneps Media Events'' History Their scoops are picked up by ''The New York Times''. In 2019 they acquired AM New York Metro from Newsday Media Group. Michael Benedetto
Michael Benedetto (born June 2, 1947) is a Member of the New York State Assembly representing the 82nd Assembly District, which covers the Co-op City, Throggs Neck, Westchester Square, City Island, Country Club, and Pelham Bay sections of the East Bronx. After a 35-year teaching career at the elementary and secondary school level, he was first elected to the State Assembly in 2004. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Benedetto was born in the Bronx in 1947. He holds a B.A. in History/Education from Iona College and a M.A. in Social Studies/Education. In 1981, Benedetto co-founded the ''Bronx Times-Reporter'', a weekly newspaper, with John Collazzi. ''Brooklyn Paper'' is a weekly newspaper that covers news related exclusively to the New York City borough of Brooklyn. ''Brooklyn Paper'' covers news and cultural events throughout the borough, using different mastheads for neighborhoods such as Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Bay Ridge, etc. In addition to news coverage, the paper also publishes a weekly entertainment guide entitled ''GO Brooklyn''.
