Bridges Over The River Seine
This page is a list of present-day bridges over the River Seine and its channels, sorted by département, and then sorted from downstream to upstream. After each bridge is listed the name of the communes which it links together, with the one on the right bank of the river given first. The list does not include bridges over its tributaries. Beside the bridge crossings, eight ferry crossings, all located in the département de Seine Maritime are still in use as of 2020. From downstream up the first two are considered seagoing vessels (in reference to their gross tonnage) at Duclair and Quillebeuf sur Seine and the remaining six (Dieppedalle, Val de la Haye, La Bouille, le Mesnil sous Jumièges, Jumièges and Yainville) being smaller are considered river crafts and comply to respective regulations and crew requirements . Bridge
A bridge is a structure built to span a physical obstacle (such as a body of water, valley, road, or rail) without blocking the way underneath. It is constructed for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle, which is usually something that is otherwise difficult or impossible to cross. The earliest bridges were likely made with fallen trees and stepping stones. The Neolithic people built boardwalk bridges across marshland. Quillebeuf-sur-Seine
Quillebeuf-sur-Seine (, literally ''Quillebeuf on Seine'') is a commune in the north-western part of the Eure department in Normandy in northern France. Quillebeuf, which is an old port, is located on left bank of the Seine. The town is connected to Port-Jérôme-sur-Seine, in Seine-Maritime via a car ferry. Oissel
Oissel () is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in northern France. Geography A suburban and light industrial town situated by the banks of the river Seine, just south of Rouen at the junction of the D18 and the D13 roads. Junction 22 of the A13 autoroute is entirely within the commune's borders. SNCF operates a TER rail service here. History The area around Oissel were a common place for Viking raiders because of its location on the Seine river, during their raids on Francia. Eventually, the Vikings setteled on one of the islands near Oissel and made it into a base, calling the island "Thorhólmr" meaning "Thor's Island". Tourville-la-Rivière
Tourville-la-Rivière () is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in northern France. Geography A small farming and light industrial town situated by the banks of the Seine, some south of Rouen at the junction of the D144, D7 and the D13 roads. Junction 21 of the A13 autoroute is within the commune's borders. SNCF operates a TER rail service to the town. A huge new shopping centre was opened here in 2006. Pont Gustave-Flaubert
The Pont Gustave-Flaubert ( en, Gustave Flaubert Bridge) is a vertical-lift bridge over the river Seine in Rouen, Seine-Maritime, Normandy, France. It was officially opened on 25 September 2008 after four years of construction. The bridge itself cost approximately to build. Additional costs, including work to surrounding infrastructure and approach roads, brought the total cost to €137 million. Construction began in June 2004. Rouen City Council named the bridge after the 19th-century novelist Gustave Flaubert, who was born and died in Rouen. History The design team, included the engineering firm Arcadis NV and the consultancy firm Eurodim. The specialist machinery was designed by Aymeric Zublena, one of the architects of the Stade de France, and Michel Virlogeux, designer of the Pont de Normandie Bridge and the Millau Viaduct.
