Brian Hitchen
Brian Hitchen, CBE (8 July 1936 – 2 December 2013) was a British newspaper editor. Chadderton
Chadderton is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, on the River Irk and Rochdale Canal. It is located in the foothills of the Pennines, west of Oldham, south of Rochdale and north-east of Manchester. Historically part of Lancashire, Chadderton's early history is marked by its status as a manorial township, with its own lords, who included the Asshetons, Chethams, Radclyffes and Traffords. Bobby Moore
Robert Frederick Chelsea Moore (12 April 1941 – 24 February 1993) was an English professional footballer. He most notably played for West Ham United, captaining the club for more than ten years, and was the captain of the England national team that won the 1966 FIFA World Cup. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders in the history of football, and was cited by Pelé as the greatest defender that he had ever played against. Widely regarded as West Ham's greatest ever player, Moore played over 600 games for the club during a 16-year tenure, winning the FA Cup in 1963–64 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1964–65. Philip Andrew Geoffrey Walker (28 July 1944 – 6 October 2011) was a British newspaper editor. Walker grew up in Cardiff, where he attended Howardian High School. He entered journalism in 1962, working for the '' South Wales Echo'', then in 1964 moved to London to work for the '' Daily Sketch''. In 1966, he joined the '' Reading Evening Post'', and then, in 1968, the '' Daily Mail''. The following year, he was appointed as an assistant editor of the ''Daily Mirror'', serving until 1980, when he became associate editor of the '' Daily Express''. He returned to the ''Mirror'' three years later, as deputy editor, but became freelance in 1988. In 1990, he was appointed deputy editor of the '' Daily Star'', and was promoted to editor in 1994, serving for four years. Commander Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. The Independent
''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. The newspaper was controlled by Tony O'Reilly's Irish Independent News & Media from 1997 until it was sold to the Russian oligarch and former KGB Officer Alexander Lebedev in 2010.
