Borodianka ( uk, Бородянка, ) is an urban-type settlement in Bucha Raion of Kyiv Oblast (province) of Ukraine. The town is located on the Zdvyzh River which is a tributary of the Teteriv River. History The settlement was first mentioned in 1190 with its name recorded as Kozyatici. In 1863 Borodianka became known for its anti-Russian uprising led by Władysław Żeleński as part of the January Uprising. 1930s - 1940s In December 1932, the first victims of the Holodomor fell. The exact number of deaths in Borodyanka from famine and famine-related diseases has not been established. In 1990, a cross was erected in the local cemetery at the site of the mass burial of Holodomor victims. Borodianka (air Base)
Borodianka is a former military air base in Ukraine located 3 km northwest of Borodianka in Kyiv Oblast. Since the end of the Cold War, all except a small area has been converted to agricultural use. Borodianka Raion
Borodianka Raion () was a raion (district) in Kyiv Oblast of Ukraine. Its administrative center was the urban-type settlement of Borodianka. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Kyiv Oblast to seven. Bucha Raion
Bucha Raion ( uk, Бучанський район, translit=Buchanskyi raion) is a raion (district) of Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. It was created in July 2020 as part of the reform of administrative divisions of Ukraine. Its administrative center is the town of Bucha. One abolished raion, Borodianka Raion, parts of abolished Kyiv-Sviatoshyn and Makariv Raions, as well as Irpin Municipality and the city of Bucha, which was previously incorporated as a city of oblast significance, were merged into Bucha Raion. Kyiv Offensive (2022)
The Kyiv offensive was a theater in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. It involved attacks by Russia across the Russo-Ukrainian and Belarusian–Ukrainian borders beginning on 24 February 2022 for the control of Kyiv and its surrounding areas. Russian operations around Kyiv saw the occupation of parts of neighbouring Zhytomyr Oblast as well. Kyiv is the capital city of Ukraine, and houses the headquarters for the Ukrainian government and military command. Russian forces initially successfully captured several towns and cities in Kyiv Oblast. However, the offensive stalled over logistical and tactical issues.
