Boris Rõtov
Boris Rõtov ( et, Boriss Rõtov; 20 August 1937 – 10 September 1987) was a Russian-Estonian chess player who won the Estonian Chess Championship (1978). Biography Boris Rõtov was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, where he graduated secondary school. From 1964 he lived and worked in the Tallinn. In 1969 he won the Baltic Chess Championship in Riga. In the 1970s he moved into the top chess players rank in Estonia. He played three times for Estonia in the Soviet Team Chess Championships (1972, 1975, 1975). He also participated three times in the prestigious International Chess tournaments in Tallinn, where in 1973 he ranked 10th, in 1975 – 12th, and in 1979 – 15th. In 1978 Boris Rõtov won the Estonian Chess Championship. He was three times medalist in the Estonian Chess Championship: 2nd in 1975 and 1974 and 3rd in 1976. 2014 Chess Olympiad
The 41st Chess Olympiad ( no, Den 41. Sjakkolympiade), organised by the FIDE, Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) and comprising an open and women's tournament, as well as several events designed to promote the game of chess, took place in Tromsø, Norway, between 1–14 August 2014. The organiser was Chess Olympiad Tromsø 2014 AS on behalf of FIDE. A total number of 1,570 players participated at the Olympiad, with 881 in the men and 689 in the women's section. The number of participating teams was 177 from 172 countries in the open section and 136 from 131 countries in the women's section. The main competitive events were held at Mackhallen. The Chief Arbiter of the event was Greece's International Arbiter Panagiotis Nikolopoulos. Mai Narva (born October 22, 1999) is an Estonian chess player holding the titles of International Master and Woman Grandmaster. Biography Mai Narva was born in a chess player's family. She is Estonian chess master Boris Rõtov's and Lady International Correspondence Chess Grandmaster Merike Rõtova's granddaughter. Her father, Jaan Narva, is FIDE master, her mother is Regina Narva and her sister Triin Narva. Mai Narva won the Estonian Women's Chess Championship four times: 2014, 2016 (after play-off), 2017 and 2020. She also won silver medal in 2013 Estonian Women's Chess Championship and shared second place in 2015 Estonian Open Chess Championship. Triin Narva (born November 12, 1994) is an Estonian chess player who holds the title of Woman FIDE Master (2016). Biography Narva was born into a chess playing family. She is the granddaughter of Estonian chess champion Boris Rõtov and Woman International Correspondence Chess Grandmaster Merike Rõtova. Her father Jaan Narva is FIDE master, while both her mother Regina Narva and her sister Mai Narva have won the Estonian Women's Chess Championship.
