Boomerang (Southeast Asia)
Boomerang is a pan-Asian cable and satellite television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery under its International division. Like the original US version, this localization first began as a programming block that aired on Cartoon Network Asia (from 2001 to 2005), before becoming its own channel in 2004. On 1 December 2012, the channel was shut down and replaced with Toonami Asia. Eventually, the channel was relaunched on 1 January 2015 as part of Boomerang's 2014–15 global rebranding effort, replacing Cartoonito Asia. As of 15 December 2020, Boomerang and Nick Jr. is currently available on Astro, Malaysian satellite TV provider replacing Disney Channel and Disney Junior which ceased transmission on 1 January 2021. 1080i
1080i (also known as Full HD or BT.709) is a combination of frame resolution and scan type. 1080i is used in high-definition television (HDTV) and high-definition video. The number "1080" refers to the number of horizontal lines on the screen. The "i" is an abbreviation for "interlaced"; this indicates that only the even lines, then the odd lines of each frame (each image called a video field) are drawn alternately, so that only half the number of actual image frames are used to produce video. A related display resolution is 1080p, which also has 1080 lines of resolution; the "p" refers to progressive scan, which indicates that the lines of resolution for each frame are "drawn" on the screen in sequence. The Philippine version is a branch of Cartoon Network Asia and broadcasts exclusively in the Philippines. The channel started broadcasting on October 6, 1994, as part of Cartoon Network Asia. It was later separated from the Southeast Asia feed on September 1, 1995. All-Asian Satellite Television and Radio Operator, doing business as Astro, is a Malaysian satellite television and IPTV provider. It operates in Malaysia and Brunei and operates from the All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) in Kuala Lumpur and MEASAT in Cyberjaya. Boomerang is an American cable television network and streaming service owned by Warner Bros. Discovery Networks, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery.
