Bona (film)
''Bona'' is a 1980 Filipino drama film directed by Lino Brocka, with the film's lead character, Bona, played by acclaimed actress Nora Aunor. It was submitted as an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival that same year. ''Bona'' was also shown at the Directors' Fortnight of the 1981 Cannes International Film Festival, marking Brocka's second appearance at the festival. ''Bona'' also gave Aunor her second Gawad Urian best actress trophy. The 6th Metro Manila Film Festival was held in 1980. Fernando Poe, Jr. had his first '' Panday'' film, the undisputed top grosser of the festival; Nora Aunor had two entries: Lino Brocka's '' Bona'' and Laurice Guillen's ''Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo''; Vilma Santos came up with Danny Zialcita's ''Langis at Tubig''; Amy Austria in Marilou Diaz-Abaya's ''Brutal''. The Telluride Film Festival (TFF) is a film festival held annually in Telluride, Colorado during Labor Day weekend (the first Monday in September). The 49th edition took place on September 2 -6, 2022. The Gawad Urian Awards are annual film awards in the Philippines held since 1977. It is given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP, "the Filipino Film Critics") and is currently regarded as the counterpart of the United States' New York Film Critics Circle. Establishment The MPP was formed by a host of scholars, film writers and other award-winning writers on May 1, 1976 as a critics' voice to rival the then-only award-giving body in the Philippines, which is its Oscars', the FAMAS Awards. Three years earlier, what would be the members of the MPP were included in the judges' roster of the FAMAS after a shocking 1972 Best Actress tie materialized between major star Boots Anson-Roa and then-rising star Vilma Santos.
