Boca Sami
Sint Michiel (also Boca Samí) is a former fishing village in Willemstad lying at the south end of Bullenbaai bay on the west coast of Curaçao. It is located to the northwest of the island's city centre. Overview The St. Michiel Bay is locally known as "Boca Samí" and is situated between the much smaller Blue Bay, Curaçao, Blue Bay and Vaersenbaai. It is named after Michael (archangel), Saint Michael. Vaersen Bay used to be the Curaçao Police recreational facility. It is now the beach club Kokomo Beach Curacao. The bay was once defended by two Dutch West India Company, WIC forts. The ruins of the main fort are still visible. These forts provided protection from Jacques Cassard, French pirates and the British Navy though they were occupied by both in the 18th and early 19th Century. Several chronologies in the archaeology of the Americas include an Archaic Period or Archaic stage etc. It is often sub-divided, for example into "Early", "Middle" and "Late", or alternatively "Lower" and "Upper", stages. CRKSV Jong Colombia is a football club in Curaçao, playing in the country's first division Curaçao League. Located in Boka Sami Municipality Sint Michiel It was founded on 23 July 1951. Its name and its crest is a reference to Colombia, located 1045.8 km from the island. Blue Bay Sculpture Garden
The Blue Bay Sculpture Garden is a sculpture park situated at the Blue Bay Golf & Beach Resort in Boca Samí, Curaçao, on an area of approximately 2000 square metres in front of and next to Landhuis Blauw. The Blue Bay Sculpture Garden Foundation was established in 2017. The board not only wants to foster tourism with the sculpture park, but also give an impetus to art education in Curaçao. The piece that was first placed in the park was a ceramic totem by Ellen Spijkstra, followed by works by, among others, Giovanni Abath, Eddy Baetens, Babs de Brabander Sr, Hortence Brouwn, Avantia Damberg, Rien te Hennepe, Nic Jonk, Yubi Kirindongo, Norva Sling, Omar Sling, Gerrit van der Veen and Brigitte Wawoe. Jacques Cassard
Jacques Cassard (30 September 1679 – 1740) was a French naval officer and privateer. Biography Born on 30 September 1679 to a family of merchants of Nantes, Cassard began a career as a sailor at age 14 on the merchantmen owned by his family. In January 1697, he joined the French Navy on bombship ''Éclatante''. In 1700, Cassard became a merchantman captain. The next year, the War of the Spanish Succession broke out, and Cassard converted to a privateer. In 1705, he captained the privateer ''Saint Guillaume'', capturing 12 merchantmen and raiding Cork. Two years later, he captured 13 merchantmen with the ''Duchesse Anne'', earning a rank in the Navy. In 1709, Cassard, promoted to Commander, was tasked to escort a 25-ship food convoy on the 68-gun ''Éclatant''. Dutch West India Company
The Dutch West India Company ( nl, Geoctrooieerde Westindische Compagnie, ''WIC'' or ''GWC''; ; en, Chartered West India Company) was a chartered company of Dutch merchants as well as foreign investors. Among its founders was Willem Usselincx (1567–1647) and Jessé de Forest (1576–1624).
