Billy Greer
Billy Greer (born January 26, 1952) is an American musician, singer and songwriter known as the current bass guitarist for the band Kansas. He joined the band in their 1985 reformation, making his debut appearance on ''Power''. He had previously worked with Kansas keyboardist/vocalist Steve Walsh in the band Streets, and works with his own band Seventh Key when not performing with Kansas. He also was a member of the 2009 Kansas side project Native Window along with Kansas members Phil Ehart, Richard Williams, and David Ragsdale. In addition to performing, Greer manages his son's band 3 Story Fall and produces their music. Surgoinsville is a town in Hawkins County, Tennessee, United States. The 2010 census showed a population of 1,801, up from 1,882 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Kingsport– Bristol (TN)– Bristol (VA) Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN- VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the " Tri-Cities" region. ''Freaks of Nature'' is the twelfth studio album by the American rock band Kansas, released in 1995. Two edited singles were issued but did not chart, nor did the album itself, making it the only Kansas studio album not to appear on any '' Billboard'' chart. The band promoted the album by touring with the Alan Parsons Project, and then opening for Styx. Production Recorded in Trinidad, the album was produced by Jeff Glixman. Violinist David Ragsdale cowrote four of ''Freaks of Natures songs. The band chose to forgo the overproduction of previous albums, including eschewing orchestral instrumentation. Native Window is the only album of American progressive rock band Native Window. It was released on June 23, 2009. The tracks on the album are all original material composed by the members of the band. The album came about soon after the band formed; it was because Steve Walsh, the lead singer for Kansas, would not write any new material. ''There's Know Place Like Home'' is Kansas' fifth live album. It was released as a double CD and also on DVD on October 13, 2009 and Blu-ray on November 23, 2009. The DVD charted at No. 5 on the ''Billboard'' Music DVD chart the week of its release, Kansas's only appearance on that chart. ''There's Know Place Like Home'' is a recording of a concert that took place on February 7, 2009 in Topeka, Kansas at Washburn University (which several members of Kansas attended) along with the Washburn University Symphony Orchestra. ''King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents Kansas'' is the third live album from American rock band Kansas, released in 1998 (see 1998 in music). In the UK it was released as ''Live on the King Biscuit Flower Hour'', and in 2003 it was re-released as ''Greatest Hits Live'' (see below). The album was recorded on February 14, 1989, at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia during their '' In the Spirit of Things'' tour and featured performances by Steve Walsh and Steve Morse. Two tracks from the original performance were omitted from the release: " Play the Game Tonight" and a cover of "Born to Be Wild." The liner notes include an extensive essay describing this era of the band and the circumstances surrounding the album and tour supporting it during which this show was recorded. Live At The Whisky
''Live at the Whisky'' is the second live recording by American rock band Kansas, released in 1992. The U.S. version includes a bonus track "Lonely Street" from 1975. A German version of the release contains an alternative bonus track, "Journey from Mariabronn" which actually includes both "Belexes" and "Journey from Mariabronn" together from that same show. The German bonus track is also available on iTunes, Napster, and other streaming services. The album notes state that it was recorded in "one take", and has been criticized by some because of the harsh vocals of singer Steve Walsh, whose voice was failing at that time as a result of a variety of issues, including fatigue and substance abuse. It was the first official Kansas release (other than compilations) not to reach the album charts, and also the first not released on a major record label. ''The Absence of Presence'' is the sixteenth studio album by American progressive rock band Kansas. The album was originally due to be released on June 26, 2020, but due to manufacturing delays the release date was postponed to July 17, 2020. It is their fourth studio album without founding member, lead vocalist and keyboardist Steve Walsh, who retired from the band in 2014; the other three being 1982's '' Vinyl Confessions'', 1983's '' Drastic Measures'' and 2016's '' The Prelude Implicit''.
