Beto Y Sus Canarios
Beto y sus Canarios are a regional Mexican band formed in Huetamo, Michoacán, Mexico. It was founded in 1987 by Gabino García and Edilberto Portillo. After releasing several albums, in 2001 the group released their album Tuve una novia, featuring the single Noche eterna, which became a number-one hit in the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. The Huetamo-raised group in company with their compatriots, La Dinastía de Tuzantla are two pioneers in exploiting Tierra Caliente music. History The versatile Calentano group Beto y Sus Canarios was formed in 1987 in Huetamo, Michoacán, Mexico, in the Tierra Caliente region (Spanish for ''Hot Land''). The musical director Gabino García approached Edilberto Portillo with the proposal at the beginning of that year and the two went to work to audition and recruit members, establishing themselves as musicians who had not been in any kind of musical group before theirs. Huetamo
Huetamo is a municipality in the southeastern corner of the Mexican state of Michoacán, in a region known as "Tierra Caliente" (meaning hot land). Of indigenous Purepecha Indian origin, the word "Huetamo" means "four chiefs" or "four came". The municipal seat is the city of San Juan Huetamo de Núñez. In 2015, the population of Huetamo was 41,973. History The region was independent around the 16th century. During this period of time, Andalusians, African slaves and indigenous people populated the region. Through time the people in the region became people of mixed race; castas, mainly Castizos, Mestizos, Mulatos and Lobos – another name for Zambos. The French invaded Mexico in 1862, taking control of many large and wealthy haciendas in the Tierra Caliente region, such as Zirandaro, and Comburindio. Banda Music
Banda is a genre of Regional Mexican music and type of ensemble in which wind (mostly brass) and percussion instruments are performed. The history of banda music in Mexico dates from the middle of the 19th century with the arrival of piston brass instruments, when community musicians tried to imitate military bands. Michoacán
