Bertha Zück
Bertha (''Anna Barbara'') Zück, also called ''Babette'' (2 February 1797 – 20 February 1868 at Stockholm Palacesvar.ra.se, SCB döda, Stockholms katolskaAnna Barbara Zück/ref>), was the German favourite, Lady's maid and treasurer of Queen Josephine of Sweden. Bertha Zück arrived to Sweden from Bavaria in the entourage of Josephine of Leuchtenberg at her wedding with the Crown Prince of Sweden in 1823. Josephine became Queen in 1844. Zück was, alongside Josephine’s Catholic confessor, Lorentz Studach (d. 1873), Josephine's most intimate friend and favourite: Zück, Studach and Josephine was so close that they were referred to at the royal court as ”The Trio”. Originally employed as a lady's maid, Bertha Zück was later appointed to the post of the Queen's treasurer, an unusual post for a woman in the 19th century. Stockholm Palace
Stockholm Palace or the Royal Palace ( sv, Stockholms slott or ) is the official residence and major royal palace of the Swedish monarch (King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia use Drottningholm Palace as their usual residence). Stockholm Palace is on Stadsholmen, in Gamla stan in the capital, Stockholm. It neighbours the Riksdag building. The offices of the King, the other members of the Swedish royal family, and the Royal Court of Sweden are here. The palace is used for representative purposes by the King whilst performing his duties as the head of state. This royal residence has been in the same location by Norrström in the northern part of Gamla stan in Stockholm since the middle of the 13th century when the Tre Kronor Castle was built. Favourite
A favourite (British English) or favorite (American English) was the intimate companion of a ruler or other important person. In post-classical and early-modern Europe, among other times and places, the term was used of individuals delegated significant political power by a ruler. It was especially a phenomenon of the 16th and 17th centuries, when government had become too complex for many hereditary rulers with no great interest in or talent for it, and political institutions were still evolving. From 1600 to 1660 there were particular successions of all-powerful minister-favourites in much of Europe, particularly in Spain, England, France and Sweden. Josephine Of Leuchtenberg
Joséphine of Leuchtenberg (Joséphine Maximilienne Eugénie Napoléone de Beauharnais; 14 March 1807 – 7 June 1876) was Queen of Sweden and Norway from 8 March 1844 to 8 July 1859 as the wife of King Oscar I. She was also Princess of Bologna from birth and Duchess of Galliera from 1813. She was regarded as politically active during the reign of her spouse and acted as his political adviser, actively participating in government affairs. She is acknowledged as having introduced more liberal laws regarding religion. Early life Joséphine was born on 14 March 1807 in Milan, Italy. She was the first of six children of Eugène de Beauharnais, Duke of Leuchtenberg (1781–1824), and his wife, Princess Augusta of Bavaria (1788–1851). Emerentia Von Düben
Baroness Emerentia von Düben (May 24, 1669 – March 22, 1743) also called Menza, was a Swedish lady-in-waiting, the favourite of Ulrika Eleonora, Queen of Sweden. She was known for her influence over Ulrika Eleonora. Life Emerentia von Düben was the daughter of organist and composer Gustaf Düben and Emerentia Standaert, she was a great-granddaughter of the German-born Baroque composer Andreas Düben, and a sister of Gustaf von Düben the Younger, Joachim von Düben the Elder (father of Ulrika Eleonora von Düben, also a royal favourite), and Anders von Düben (the Younger). Probably born in Stockholm, Menza was initially employed as a chamber maid at the court of the queen, Ulrika Eleonora. In 1690, she was made responsible for Princess Ulrika Eleonora.
