Berehomet ( ro, Bеrhomet pe Siret, german: Berhometh, uk, Берегомет), is an urban-type settlement in Vyzhnytsia Raion (district) of Chernivtsi Oblast (province) in western Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Berehomet settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The settlement lies on the Siret River. At the 2001 census, the settlement's population was 8,513. Current population: One village is administered by the settlement, Zarichchia (Заріччя; Zaricicea). Vyzhnytsia Raion
Vyzhnytsia Raion ( uk, Вижницький район) is an administrative raion (district) in the southern part of Chernivtsi Oblast, located in the historical region of Bukovina, in western Ukraine, on the Romanian border. The region has an area of and centers on the city of Vyzhnytsia. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Chernivtsi Oblast was reduced to three, and the area of Vyzhnytsia Raion was significantly expanded. Georg Wassilko Von Serecki
Count Georg Wassilko von Serecki (17 February 1864, Berhometh, Austria; 24 March 1940, Berhomet pe Siret, Romania), was an Austro-Hungarian-born ethnic Romanian statesman, Landeshauptmann of the Duchy of Bucovina and hereditary member of the '' Herrenhaus'', the Upper House of the Imperial Council of Austria. Early life and ancestry Born into an old Modavian boyar Wassilko von Serecki family, he was born as eldest son of Baron Alexander Wassilko von Serecki and his wife, Katharina von Flondor (1843-1920). Activity George attended the German Gymnasium at Czernowitz (Cernăuți), then the Theresianum in Vienna and graduated with his baccalaureate in 1882. Then he studied jurisprudence and economics at the University of Czernowitz and the University of Vienna. Chernivtsi Oblast
Chernivtsi Oblast ( uk, Черніве́цька о́бласть, Chernivetska oblast), also referred to as Chernivechchyna ( uk, Чернівеччина) is an oblast (province) in Western Ukraine, consisting of the northern parts of the regions of Bukovina and Bessarabia. It has an international border with Romania and Moldova. The oblast is the smallest in Ukraine by area and second smallest by population. Chernivtsi was part of Romania. Baron Alexander Wassilko von Serecki (December 17, 1827, Berhometh, Austria – August 20, 1893, Lopuszna (Lăpușna), Austria-Hungary), descendant of an old Moldavian boyar family, was an Austro-Hungarian ethnic Romanian statesman, Landeshauptmann of the Duchy of Bukovina and member of the Herrenhaus, the Upper House of the Imperial Council of Austria. Ukrainian Galician Army ( uk, Українська Галицька Армія, translit=Ukrayins’ka Halyts’ka Armiya, UHA), was the Ukrainian military of the West Ukrainian National Republic during and after the Polish-Ukrainian War. An oblast ( uk, о́бласть; ) in Ukraine, often called a region or province, is the main type of first-level administrative division of the country. Ukraine's territory is divided into 24 oblasts, as well as one autonomous republic, Crimea, and two cities with special status, Kyiv and Sevastopol.
