Benno Friesen
Benno Friesen (27 June 1929 – 29 September 2021) was a Canadian administrator, professor and politician. Friesen served as a Progressive Conservative party member of the House of Commons of Canada. Born in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, Friesen represented the British Columbia riding of Surrey—White Rock where he was first elected in the 1974 federal election. With the riding name changed to Surrey—White Rock—North Delta, Friesen won re-election in the 1979, 1980, and 1984 federal elections. He also won in the 1988 election when the riding name reverted to Surrey—White Rock. Benno Gerrit Valentijn Kuipers (born March 6, 1974 in Ede, Gelderland) is a former breaststroke swimmer from the Netherlands. Kuipers competed for his native country in two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. Benno Kerry (né Kohn; 11 December 1858 – 20 May 1889) was an Austrian philosopher. Life Kerry was born as Benno KohnRollinger 1999, p. 125. in Vienna. He studied under Ernst Laas and Otto Liebmann at the University of Strassburg and from 1877/78 under Franz Brentano at the University of Vienna. In 1881 he obtained his doctorate with the dissertation ''Untersuchungen über das Causalproblem auf dem Boden einer Kritik der einschlägigen Lehren J. Benno Janssen
Benno Janssen (March 12, 1874 – October 14, 1964) was an American architect. Childhood, education and career Benno Janssen was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Oscar Janssen and Thekla Susenbeth. Janssen studied at the University of Kansas. In 1899, he began working in architecture in Boston, Massachusetts. He also continued his studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1902, Janssen headed for Paris, France, and further studied at the École des Beaux-Arts. In 1905, he returned to the United States to work in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the architectural firm MacClure & Spahr. Janssen left that firm, along with Franklin Abbott, to form their own partnership in 1906, Janssen & Abbott, which remained active until Abbott's retirement in 1918. Benno Jacob (7 September 1862 – 24 January 1945) was a liberal rabbi and Bible scholar. Biography Jacob studied in the Rabbinical Seminary and University of his native Breslau (now Wrocław, Poland). He served as a rabbi between the years 1891-1929 until he retired to Hamburg to concentrate on his exegetical work. Already in his student years he was active in the fight against antisemitism, he founded a Jewish student's society that introduced fencing duels as a method of defending the honor of Judaism when it was degraded by antisemitic students. In 1892 he had a confrontation with Liebermann von Sonnenberg, a prominent antisemitic politician and publisher. After Sonnenberg delivered a two and a half hour lecture on the Talmud, Jacob, bearing a copy of the Talmud, challenged him to read out the passages he had referred to in his lecture. Benno Gut (1 April 1897 – 8 December 1970) was a Benedictine monk of the Archabbey of Maria Einsiedeln, Switzerland, and a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship in the Roman Curia from 1969 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1967. Biography Walter Gut was born in Reiden, Switzerland, entered the Order of Saint Benedict at the Archabbey of Maria Einsiedeln, made his monastic profession as a monk on 6 January 1918, and was given the name of "''Benno''". Benno Griebert (1909 - 2000) was a German art historian and art dealer, and an early member of the Nazi party. During the Third Reich A member of the Nazi party from before 1933, Griebert worked as an advisor for the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts in Berlin from 1934 to 1937. At the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts, his role was to ensure that art exhibitions respected Nazi ideology. In 1938-1939 he advised the Berlin National Gallery He also worked with the Nazi looting organisation known as the E.R.R.
