Beit Berl College
Beit Berl College is a multi-disciplinary academic college for higher education located in Beit Berl in the Sharon region of Israel. It is one of the oldest colleges in Israel. The college grants undergraduate degrees (B.Ed and B.Ed.F.A.) and graduate degrees (M.Ed and M.Teach) in a variety of disciplines in teaching and education (formal and informal), in the Arts (Fine Arts, Film, Art Education, Art Therapy), Humanities, and Social Sciences. The college also issues teaching certificates for academics and various types of diplomas. History Beit Berl was established in 1949 on the grounds of Kalmania farm as an educational institution of Mapai. Yuli Tamir
Yael "Yuli" Tamir ( he, יולי תמיר; born 26 February 1954) is an Israeli academic and former politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Labor Party between 2003 and 2010, and as Minister of Immigrant Absorption and Education, as well as the deputy speaker of the Knesset and a member of the Finance committee, the Education committee and the Security and Foreign Affairs committee. From 2010 to 2020, Tamir was President of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. Since 2015 she is an adjunct professor at the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford. As of October 2020, Tamir is President of Beit Berl College. Yair Garbuz
Yair Garbuz ( he, יאיר גרבוז, born 29 September 1945) is an Israeli artist. He was director of the HaMidrasha Art School at Beit Berl College for 12 years. He is also known in Israel as an author and as a humorist. Biography Yair Garbuz was born in Givatayim, Mandatory Palestine. In 1962-1967, while a member of Kibbutz Kfar HaHoresh Kfar HaHoresh ( he, כְּפַר הַחֹרֶשׁ, כפר החורש, , Village of the Thicket) is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Education In Israel
The education system in Israel consists of three tiers: primary education (grades 1–6, approximately ages 6–12), middle school (grades 7–9, approximately ages 12–15) and high school (grades 10–12, approximately ages 15–19). Compulsory education takes place from kindergarten through 10th grade. The school year begins on September 1 (September 2 if September 1 is on Saturday), ending for elementary school pupils on June 30 (June 29 if June 30 is on Saturday), and for middle school and high school pupils on June 20 (June 19 if June 20 is on Saturday). The Israel Prize ( he, פרס ישראל; ''pras israél'') is an award bestowed by the State of Israel, and regarded as the state's highest cultural honor. Nurit Buchweitz
Nurit Buchweitz is the Dean of the Faculty of Society and Culture at Beit Berl College in Israel, where she has lectured since 1994 in the Department of Hebrew and Comparative Literature, and the English department. Education Buchweitz earned her BA and MA from Tel Aviv University in Poetics and General Literature. Buchweitz completed her Ph.D. in 2001 in Comparative Literature at School of Jewish Studies at Tel Aviv University. Hillel Roman
Hillel Roman (הלל רומן) is a visual artist living and working in Tel Aviv, Israel. Biography Roman was born on April 16, 1975 in Los Angeles, California. At age 24 he joined Hamidrasha Art School, Beit Berl College, Israel. In 2004 Roman graduated from Tel-Aviv University, the Department for Poetics and Comparative Literature ( magna cum laude), and in 2007 he received his Masters of Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Michal Heiman
Michal Heiman (Hebrew language, Hebrew: מיכל היימן, born in Tel Aviv) is a Tel Aviv-Yafo based artist, curator, theoretician and activist. She is the founder of the ''Photographer Unknown Archive'' (1984) and creator of the Michal Heiman Tests No. 1-4 (M.H.T). Her work bears on issues of history, human and women's rights, trauma, and memory, as well as an examination of the photographic medium, using reenactment, installation, archival materials, photographs, film, and lecture-performances.
