Begnadalen
Begnadalen or Begndalen is a valley in Norway. The valley runs through Sør-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county and Ringerike Municipality in Viken county. The long valley follows the river Begna from Bagn to the lake Sperillen. The European route E16 passes through the valley. In the central part of the valley, the Church of Norway has a church which is called the Begnadalen Church. The main Begnadalen valley has several smaller side valleys that branch off of it. The Hedalen valley extends to the south and west of the main valley. The Vidalen extends to the south of the Hedalen valley and the Vassfaret Vassfaret is a forested mountain valley in southern Norway. Begnadalen Church
Begnadalen Church ( no, Begnadalen kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sør-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Begnadalen. It is the church for the Begnadalen parish which is part of the Valdres prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The brown, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1964 using plans drawn up by the architects Arnstein Arneberg and Per Solemslie. The church seats about 240 people. History The first church in Begnadalen was constructed in 1859 using designs by the architect Christian Heinrich Grosch. The church was a wooden octagonal building. This church burned down in 1957 after receiving electric heating the year before. After the fire, planning soon began for building a new church. The new church would be built about west of the old church site. The new church was designed by Arnstein Arneberg and Per Solemslie. The lead builder was Ola Svendsen from Begnadalen. Hedalen
Hedalen is a valley in Sør-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The long valley is a side valley which branches off the main Begnadalen. The river Urula flows through the valley. The central part of the valley is located about to the northwest of Nes i Ådal, about so the southeast of Bagn, and about to the east of Nesbyen. The valley is characterized by coniferous forests, agricultural properties, and scattered private homes, extends west and northwards from Nes i Ådal at the south end of the Begnadalen valley as it heads towards the Vassfaret valley. The lake Sperillen in Ringerike Municipality is located at the south end of the Hedalen valley. The Vassfaret conservation area includes part of the Hedalen valley and areas to the west. Begna (river)
The Begna is a river in Viken and Innlandet counties in Norway. The long river runs from the Filefjell mountain area through Valdres to the town of Hønefoss where it joins the river Randselva before it empties into the Tyrifjorden. The river Begna drains a watershed of and this is the primary river in the watershed. Along its course, the river passes through the village of Begna in Sør-Aurdal Municipality. The Norwegian writer, Mikkjel Fønhus lived much of his life and located most of his novels along the river Begna. Bagn is the administrative centre of Sør-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located in the Begnadalen valley, about to the southeast of the town of Fagernes. Vassfaret is a forested mountain valley in southern Norway. The valley is located on the border of the municipalities of Flå, Nesbyen, and Ringerike in Viken county and Sør-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county. Vidalen
Vidalen is a small forested valley in Norway that runs along the border between Sør-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county and Ringerike Municipality (and a small part of Flå Municipality) in Viken county. The river Vidøla is a small river which flows through the valley down to where it flows into the Urula river where the valley joins the Hedalen valley. Innlandet
Innlandet is a county in Norway. It was created on 1 January 2020 with the merger of the old counties of Oppland and Hedmark (the municipalities of Jevnaker and Lunner were transferred to the neighboring county of Viken on the same date). The new county has an area of , making it the second largest county in Norway after Troms og Finnmark county.
