Barton Dock Road Tram Stop
Barton Dock Road is a tram stop built on the Trafford Park Line of Greater Manchester's Metrolink light rail system. The stop is located on Barton Dock Road by the remodelled Peel Circle roundabout, and was created to serve passengers boarding and alighting at EventCity and the Trafford Centre. Manchester Metrolink
Manchester Metrolink (branded locally simply as Metrolink) is a tram/ light rail system in Greater Manchester, England. The network has 99 stops along of standard-gauge route, making it the most extensive light rail system in the United Kingdom. Metrolink is owned by the public body Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and operated and maintained under contract by a Keolis/ Amey consortium. In 2021/22, 26 million passenger journeys were made on the system. Trafford Park
Trafford Park is an area of the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, opposite Salford Quays on the southern side of the Manchester Ship Canal, southwest of Manchester city centre and north of Stretford. Until the late 19th century, it was the ancestral home of the Trafford family, who sold it to financier Ernest Terah Hooley in 1896. The Trafford Park Line is a light rail line on the Manchester Metrolink network in Greater Manchester, England, running from Pomona to The Trafford Centre. Its name derives from Trafford Park, an area of the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, and the first planned industrial estate in the world. The line opened in March 2020. EventCity
EventCity Limited was a conference, gala dinner and exhibition venue in Greater Manchester, England. It opened in 2011 and was the largest event venue in the North of England, with four halls and a combined space of . It was closed during 2021 as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The plans for an alternative venue were also scrapped by the previous owners. EventCity was located in TraffordCity, an entertainment and leisure destination. Trafford Park Railway
The Trafford Park Railway System is a disused railway system that runs around the site of large Trafford Park Industrial Estate. Rail service stopped in 1998, although some of the infrastructure remains. History The system's history started at the end of the 19th century, when there were no public transport routes in Trafford Park. The size of Trafford Park meant that the estates company was obliged to provide some means of travelling around the park, and so a gas-powered tramway was commissioned to carry both people and freight. The first tram ran on 23 July 1897. Early years The service was operated by the British Gas Traction Company, which paid a share of its takings to the estates company, but by 1899 the company was in serious financial difficulty, and entered voluntary liquidation.
