Barnet Hospital
Barnet Hospital is a district general hospital situated in Barnet, in North London. It is managed by the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Overview The original hospital on the site was the Wellhouse Hospital which was opened by Viscount Hampden, the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, in November 1920. It was renamed Barnet General Hospital in 1950. The rebuilding of the hospital was procured under a Private Finance Initiative contract in 1999. The works were designed by the Percy Thomas Partnership and carried out by Bouygues at a cost of £54 million. They were completed in February 2002 and the new facilities were opened by the Princess Royal in February 2003. Barnet General Hospital became Barnet Hospital at that time. The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (formerly the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust) is an NHS foundation trust based in London, United Kingdom. It emerged in late 2012 that Jimmy Savile, an English media personality who had died the previous year, sexually abused hundreds of people throughout his life, most of them children but some as old as 75, and most of them female. Jeremy Richard Streynsham Hunt (born 1 November 1966) is a British politician who has served as Chancellor of the Exchequer since 14 October 2022. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom. High Barnet is a London Underground station, and former railway station, located in Chipping Barnet, North London. The station is the northern terminus of the High Barnet branch of the Northern line and is in Travelcard Zone 5. It is situated 10.2 miles (16.4 km) north north-west of Charing Cross. The next station south is Totteridge & Whetstone. Services Northern line trains are scheduled to arrive and depart every 3–9 minutes from the station's three southbound platforms, with trains operating to Morden via Bank or to Kennington or Morden via Charing Cross. Uno (formerly UniversityBus) is an English bus service operated by the University of Hertfordshire, serving members of the general public, and also its own students and staff. The London Night Bus network is a series of night bus routes that serve Greater London. Services broadly operate between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00.
