Banyat Bantadtan
Banyat Bantadtan (林書清) ( th, บัญญัติ บรรทัดฐาน; , born 15 May 1942) is a Thai politician. From 2003 to 2005, he was the chairman of the Democrat Party and Leader of the Opposition against Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Life and career Banyat Bantadtan was born in Kanchanadit, Surat Thani Province. A lawyer by training, he holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Faculty of Law, Thammasat University. In 1970, he became a lecturer for the Office of Accelerated Rural Development (ARD). In 1975, he was elected Member of Parliament for the first time. He was consistently re-elected in all subsequent elections until 2007. Banyat was spokesman of the Democrat Party from 1979 to 1980. The Hainan people (), also known as Hainam nang (pronounced in Hainanese) or Hainanese people, is a geographic term referring to the natives of Hainan, the southernmost and smallest Chinese province. The term "Hainanese" was frequently used to refer to all natives of Hainan island. Pongpol Adireksarn ( th, ปองพล อดิเรกสาร, pen name Paul Adirex; born March 23, 1942) is a Thai novelist, documentarist and former politician. Early life and education Pongpol's father, Pramarn Adireksarn, was a Major-General of the Royal Thai Army who became a politician and co-founder of the conservative Thai Nation Party in 1973. His mother Charoen Adireksarn (née Choonhavan) was a sister of Chatichai Choonhavan, Thailand's prime minister from 1988 to 1991. Pongpol's maternal grandfather Field Marshal Phin Choonhavan was the leader of the 1947 coup d'état and commander-in-chief of the Thai army from 1948 to 1954. One of his aunts was married to police general Phao Sriyanond who was part of a triumvirate that ruled Thailand from 1952 to 1957. Pongpol is a scion of the powerful Soi Rajakru clan. The Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT; th, พรรคไทยรักไทย, , ; "Thais Love Thais Party") was a Thai political party founded in 1998. General elections were held in Thailand on 6 February 2005. The result was a landslide victory for the Thai Rak Thai party of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, which won 377 of the 500 seats in the House of Representatives, with its former coalition partner, the Chart Thai Party taking 25 seats.
