''Banduk'' is a 1985 Australian television film shot in Nhulunbuy in East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory of Australia.Ed. The boy and girl (siblings) in the story (Banduk and Yalumul) realise that the ice-cream van owners are smuggling native animals out of Australia, including one of the Yolngu sacred animals, the red-collared lorikeet, or ''lindrij''. With the help of Banduk's grandfather, they manage to trap the smugglers and are given a reward. The sub-plot involves the children raising money to buy musical instruments for their band. Banduk Marika
Banduk Mamburra Wananamba Marika (13 October 1954 – 12 July 2021) was an artist and printmaker from Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. She was a member of the Rirratjingu clan of the Yolngu people, whose traditional land is Yalangbara. She was also an environmental activist and leader, and the first Aboriginal person to serve on the National Gallery of Australia's board. Early life Marika was born on 13 October 1954 at Yirrkala, north-east Arnhem Land. Her father, Mawalan Marika (1908–1967), was an artist and he taught her the techniques of bark painting. He was known for his talent and expertise in the technique known as rarrk, or cross-hatching. Her siblings include brother Wandjuk Marika, sister Dhuwarrwarr Marika, Bayngul, and Laklak. Roy Marika
Roy Dadaynga Marika (1925 – 1993) was an Aboriginal Australian artist and Indigenous land rights in Australia, Indigenous rights activist. He was a member of the Marika family, brother of Mawalan 1 Marika, Mathaman Marika, Milirrpum Marika and Dhunggala Marika. He was the leader of the Rirratjingu clan of the Yolngu people from 1970 onwards, and the president of the Yirrkala Village Council on the Gove Peninsula in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. The Marikas were involved in ''Milirrpum v Nabalco Pty Ltd'' (named after Roy's older brother Milirrpum, also known as the Gove land rights case). All five were politically active for the rights of the Indigenous Australians, and four of them were well-known Indigenous Australian art, Aboriginal artists. East Arnhem Land
Arnhem Land is a historical region of the Northern Territory of Australia, with the term still in use. It is located in the north-eastern corner of the territory and is around from the territory capital, Darwin. In 1623, Dutch East India Company captain Willem Joosten van Colster (or Coolsteerdt) sailed into the Gulf of Carpentaria and Cape Arnhem is named after his ship, the ''Arnhem'', which itself was named after the city of Arnhem in the Netherlands. Garry George McDonald AO (born 30 October 1948) is an Australian actor, satirist and comedian. In a career spanning five decades he has had many theatre, television and film roles, and has been listed as a National Living Treasure. He is best known as the seemingly naive celebrity interviewer Norman Gunston, through whom he pioneered the "ambush interviewer" technique since followed by many others. He received a Gold Logie award for the television ''Norman Gunston Show'' in which he developed the character. He is also famed for his role of the hapless Arthur Beare in the television sitcom ''Mother and Son''. Appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2003 for service to the community in the mental health field and to the arts as an entertainer, he has also been a board member of the Australian mental health organisation Beyond Blue. Banula (David) Marika is an Aboriginal Australian dancer, actor, singer and performer from Yirrkala in North East Arnhem Land, in the Northern Territory of Australia. The son of Roy Marika, he is a member of the Rirratjingu clan of the Yolngu people, and is known for his performances with the Bangarra Dance Theatre since the 1990s. He is credited as David Manula Barika for his role as didgeridu player in '' Jindalee Lady'' (1992), and as Banula (David) Marika for his first role as an actor in the film '' Bedevil'' (1993), His stage performances with Bangarra include ''Up Until Now'' (1991), ''Praying Mantis Dreaming'' (1992-3) and ''Bloodland'' (2011-2). Thames Television
Thames Television, commonly simplified to just Thames, was a franchise holder for a region of the British ITV television network serving London and surrounding areas from 30 July 1968 until the night of 31 December 1992. Thames Television broadcast from 9:25 Monday morning to 5:15 Friday afternoon (7:00 Friday night until 1982) at which time it would hand over to London Weekend Television (LWT).
