Baldwin is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States (not to be confused with adjacent Baldwin Township). Part of the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area, the borough's population was 21,510 as of the 2020 census. Geography Baldwin is located at . A thin strip of land which is still part of Baldwin stretches north along Becks Run Road, separating St. Clair and Hays, reaching all the way to the Monongahela River. It then forms the south bank of the river almost to the Glenwood Bridge, effectively surrounding Hays on three sides. Glenwood Bridge
The Glenwood Bridge is a cantilever bridge in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which carries Pennsylvania Route 885 over the Monongahela River. It started construction on June 3, 1958. It was completed in 1966 to replace an old, decayed, unsafe iron bridge built in 1894, which carried Pittsburgh Railways streetcar tracks and vehicle traffic on a wooden deck. History Glenwood bridge (1894) The original bridge was built by the Penn Bridge Company of Beaver Falls and carried trolley tracks between Pittsburgh and Homestead. It was later paved with wood to allow vehicle traffic to share the crossing. Whitehall is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The population was 15,064 at the 2020 census, an increase of 1,120 since the 2010 census. History Whitehall is probably named after Silas D. Prior's tavern on Brownsville Road, which was renamed White Hall in the 1850s. The building is still in existence, but is in Brentwood. Another possible source of the borough's name is that the area, which used to be located within the township of Baldwin, was known as Whitehall Driving Park. In 1946, residents of Baldwin Township's fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh wards began the process of secession. A petition was filed on October 14, 1946, in the Quarterly Sessions of Allegheny County, with 1320 signatures out of the 1627 freeholders in the proposed borough. Bethel Park, officially the Municipality of Bethel Park, is a borough with home rule status in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. South Park Township is a township in the southern part of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, near Pittsburgh. The population was 13,416 at the 2010 census. A large portion of the township consists of a county park of the same name. History Composed of portions of St. Clair and Jefferson townships in 1845, South Park was originally called Snowden Township, named after John M. The South Side Flats is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's South Side area. It is located just south of the Monongahela River.
