Bainbridge Township is one of the sixteen townships of Geauga County, Ohio, United States and is a suburb of Cleveland. As of the 2010 census the population was 11,395. Mantua Township, Portage County, Ohio
Mantua Township is one of the eighteen townships of Portage County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 4,661 people in the township. Name and history Mantua Township was named in commemoration of Mantua, Italy, which in 1796 was besieged by Napoleon, during the Napoleonic Wars. It is the only Mantua Township statewide. Government The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Blandford is a town in Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 1,215 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was the home of the Blandford Ski Area. History Blandford was first settled in 1735 primarily by Scots-Irish settlers and was officially incorporated on November 10, 1741. Ross County is a county in the Appalachian region of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 77,093. William Bainbridge
William Bainbridge (May 7, 1774July 27, 1833) was a Commodore in the United States Navy. During his long career in the young American Navy he served under six presidents beginning with John Adams and is notable for his many victories at sea. He commanded several famous naval ships, including , and saw service in the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812. Bainbridge was also in command of when she grounded off the shores of Tripoli, Libya in North Africa, resulting in his capture and imprisonment for many months. Bainbridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bainbridge Township, Geauga County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 3,267. History A variant name of Bainbridge was "Bissells". A post office called "Bissels" was established in 1826, and remained in operation until 1906. Bainbridge derives its name from the naval hero of the War of 1812, Commodore William Bainbridge. Geography Bainbridge is located in southwestern Geauga County at (41.395654, -81.335550), at the center of Bainbridge Township. U.S. Route 422, a four-lane expressway, passes through the center of the CDP, leading east to Warren and west to downtown Cleveland.
