2000s Live Video Albums
S, or s, is the nineteenth letter of the Latin alphabet, used in the English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and other latin alphabets worldwide. Its name in English is ''ess'' (pronounced ), plural ''esses''. History Northwest Semitic šîn represented a voiceless postalveolar fricative (as in 'ip'). It originated most likely as a pictogram of a tooth () and represented the phoneme via the acrophonic principle. Ancient Greek did not have a "sh" phoneme, so the derived Greek letter Sigma () came to represent the voiceless alveolar sibilant . While the letter shape Σ continues Phoenician ''šîn'', its name ''sigma'' is taken from the letter ''Samekh'', while the shape and position of ''samekh'' but name of ''šîn'' is continued in the '' xi''. Within Greek, the name of ''sigma'' was influenced by its association with the Greek word (earlier ), "to hiss". The original name of the letter "Sigma" may have been ''san'', but due to the ear ...

9 (nine) is the natural number following and preceding . Evolution of the Hindu–Arabic digit Circa 300 BC, as part of the Brahmi numerals, various Indians wrote a digit 9 similar in shape to the modern closing question mark without the bottom dot. The Kshatrapa, Andhra and Gupta started curving the bottom vertical line coming up with a -look-alike. How the numbers got to their Gupta form is open to considerable debate. The Nagari continued the bottom stroke to make a circle and enclose the 3-look-alike, in much the same way that the sign @ encircles a lowercase ''a''. As time went on, the enclosing circle became bigger and its line continued beyond the circle downwards, as the 3-look-alike became smaller. Soon, all that was left of the 3-look-alike was a squiggle. The Arabs simply connected that squiggle to the downward stroke at the middle and subsequent European change was purely cosmetic. While the shape of the glyph for the digit 9 has an ascender in most modern typefa ...

Conny Bloom
Conny Bloom is the stage name for Ulf Conny Blomqvist, (born 23 November 1964 in Stockholm) who is a Swedish guitarist and songwriter. He is best known as the frontman for the funk metal band, Electric Boys. Bloom also served a stint as a guitarist of the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks and in Silver Ginger 5. Career Bloom began working in the musical arena and teamed up first with bassist Andy Christell, working as a duo, with Bloom supplying the vocals and guitar to Christell's bass guitar. They were signed by Polygram and scored a local Swedish hit with the single "All Lips and Hips" in 1988. With guitarist Franco Santunione and drummer Niklas Sigevall, they formed the band, the Electric Boys. Their sound was a unique, and a bit more funky rather than straight rock and roll. The band's debut, ''Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride'' held a better balanced version of Bloom and Christell's first hit, and they moved on to record another, ''Groovus Maximus'', which never outdistanced t ...

Up Around The Bend
"Up Around the Bend" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, written by the band's frontman John Fogerty. It was composed and recorded only a few days prior to the band's April 1970 European tour and was included on the album ''Cosmo's Factory''. Released as a single, with "Run Through the Jungle" on the flipside, the double-sided single climbed to number four on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in the spring of 1970. It was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of over one million copies. It was also a major hit in the UK, where it reached number three on the UK Singles Chart and was certified silver by the BPI. The song opens with a prominent, high-pitched guitar riff played by John Fogerty. The lyrics have Fogerty telling of a gathering "up around the bend" on the highway and inviting the listener to join in. ''Cash Box'' described the song as a "powerfully sung and played bit of rock with excellent top forty drive." ''Record World'' called the sing ...

Million Miles Away (Hanoi Rocks Song)
"Million Miles Away" is a ballad by the Finnish hard rock band Hanoi Rocks. The song was originally written by guitarist Andy McCoy in the 1970s under the name "Never Get Enough". McCoy worked on the song on the piano for years, but it was never fully completed. In the Fall of 1983, a raw demo version was made, and when the pre-production for the album ''Two Steps From The Move'' started, the song was again brought out. Musician Pete Brown was also present for some of the writing process for the album and wrote many lyrics himself. Although the only piece of lyrics that were used are 'Smoked a lot of sky, drank a lot of rain', which are featured in "Million Miles Away". The song features a saxophone-solo by singer Michael Monroe and the guitar solo played by Nasty Suicide, rather than Andy McCoy. At live performances Andy McCoy would often play the piano, while the other guitarist would play guitar. Even though "Million Miles Away" wasn't released as a single (except in Japan), ...

Travelin' Band
"Travelin' Band" is a song written by John Fogerty and originally recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was included on their 1970 album ''Cosmo's Factory''. Backed with " Who'll Stop the Rain", it was one of three double sided singles from that album to reach the top five on the U.S. Pop Singles Chart and the first of two to reach the number 2 spot on the American charts, alongside " Lookin' Out My Back Door", in which they were unable to interrupt the six-week run of the successful number one, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel. "Travelin' Band" was also a hit in the UK, reaching number eight on the UK Singles Chart. Background The song was inspired, both musically and for Fogerty's vocal delivery, by 1950s rock 'n' roll songs, particularly those of Little Richard. Musically, it has also been described as nearly identical to The Monkees' 1967 song, "No Time". In October 1972, the company that held the publishing rights to Richard's " Good Golly, Miss ...

Don't You Ever Leave Me
"Don't You Ever Leave Me" is a song by Finnish rock n' roll band Hanoi Rocks, released as the third and final single from their 1984 album ''Two Steps from the Move''. "Don't You Ever Leave Me" made its first appearance as "Don't Never Leave Me" on Hanoi Rocks' first album ''Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks'' (1981), but it had more punky atmosphere and faster tempo. They remade the version, which the band loved much more. It is usually considered one of the best songs by Hanoi Rocks. The band's guitarist Andy McCoy commented on the song in Finnish ''Soundi'' magazine in 1984: "Well, yeah, we screwed up that song so bad back then, that we had to remake it now. As a song, I think it's fucking great and this version is what the original should have been." The version of "Don't You Ever Leave Me" that's on the 12" single differs from the album and 7" single versions, as the 12" single version features the narration's (originally spoken by McCoy and Razzle) spoken by McCoy ...

Until I Get You
"Until I Get You" is a single by the Finnish rock and glam punk band Hanoi Rocks. The band's guitarist and primary songwriter Andy McCoy wrote this song at the band's manager Seppo Vesterinen's house in Helsinki. McCoy hated the song, but the band's drummer Razzle loved it, and wanted it on their next record. Ultimately, McCoy also fell in love with the song. The song is a kind of ballad that explains Hanoi Rocks' own melodic style very well. Also, the arrangement for the song was inspired by Alice Cooper's "I'm Eighteen". American band L.A. Guns covered the song on their album ''Rips the Covers Off'' in 2004. Track listing Personnel *Michael Monroe - Lead vocals *Andy McCoy - Lead guitar *Nasty Suicide - Rhythm guitar *Sam Yaffa - Bass * Razzle - Drums *Gyp Casino - Drums on "Tragedy" and "Oriental Beat" *Morgan Fisher - Keyboards on "Until I Get You" *Miriam Stockley - Backing vocals A backing vocalist is a singer who provides vocal harmony with the lead vocal ...
