Buried Alive (video)
''Buried Alive'' is a concert music video by the Finnish people, Finnish glam punk and Rock music, rock band Hanoi Rocks. The video was recorded at the Tavastia Club in Helsinki of the band's final show. This is also the band's last release. The DVD spent eight weeks at number 1 on Finland's DVD charts. Hanoi Rocks' founders, vocalist Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy, had announced that they had taken the band as far as they could and that they would end the band with 8 live shows at the Tavastia Club. The band's original rhythm guitarist Nasty Suicide appeared as a special guest on this (last show) and the three previous shows. Besides the show, the video also features an exclusive behind the scenes-documentary of the last week with Hanoi Rocks (co-filmed by some of the members of the band). Hanoi Rocks
Hanoi Rocks was a Finnish rock band formed in 1979. They were the first Finnish band to chart in the UK and they were also popular in Japan. The band broke up in June 1985 after drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley died in a drunk driving accident with Vince Neil behind the wheel during their first US tour in December 1984. After their initial break-up, Michael Monroe was the first Finnish artist to chart on the American Billboard 200 in 1989. Original vocalist Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy reunited in 2001 with a new lineup that lasted until 2009. Although musically closer to traditional rock n' roll and punk, the band have been cited as a major influence in the glam metal genre for bands such as Guns N' Roses, Skid Row and Poison. According to Finnish radio and TV personality Jone Nikula, who was the band's tour manager in the 2000s, Hanoi Rocks's albums have sold between 780,000 and 1,000,000 copies around the world, mostly in Scandinavia and Japan. Michael Monroe
Matti Antero Kristian Fagerholm (born 17 June 1962), better known by his stage name Michael Monroe, is a Finnish rock musician who rose to fame as the vocalist for the glam punk band Hanoi Rocks, and has served as the frontman for all-star side projects, such as Demolition 23 and Jerusalem Slim (with Steve Stevens). Early life Michael Monroe was born Matti "Makke" Fagerholm on 17 June 1962. His father, Pentti Fagerholm (1935–2015), was a very well known Finnish radio personality and reporter. Monroe states in the Hanoi Rocks autobiography ''All Those Wasted Years'' that one of the first times he was exposed to rock n' roll was when he saw Black Sabbath's 1970 Paris performance on television. Million Miles Away (Hanoi Rocks Song)
"Million Miles Away" is a ballad by the Finnish hard rock band Hanoi Rocks. The song was originally written by guitarist Andy McCoy in the 1970s under the name "Never Get Enough". McCoy worked on the song on the piano for years, but it was never fully completed. In the Fall of 1983, a raw demo version was made, and when the pre-production for the album ''Two Steps From The Move'' started, the song was again brought out. Musician Pete Brown was also present for some of the writing process for the album and wrote many lyrics himself. Although the only piece of lyrics that were used are 'Smoked a lot of sky, drank a lot of rain', which are featured in "Million Miles Away". The song features a saxophone-solo by singer Michael Monroe and the guitar solo played by Nasty Suicide, rather than Andy McCoy. People Like Me (Hanoi Rocks Song)
"People Like Me" is a single by the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks, and is the comeback-single of the band, who had broken-up in 1985. The single was certified Gold and reached number one on the Finnish singles chart. "People Like Me" is the fruit of Andy McCoy and Michael Monroe's team-work and one of the biggest reasons for Hanoi Rocks' rebirth, was that McCoy let Monroe be an equal songwriter with him. Originally the song was one of the last demos by the original Hanoi Rocks before their drummer Razzle died in a car crash, but the song didn't get finished until 2002. Travelin' Band
"Travelin' Band" is a song written by John Fogerty and originally recorded by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was included on their 1970 album '' Cosmo's Factory''. Backed with " Who'll Stop the Rain", it was one of three double sided singles from that album to reach the top five on the U.S. Pop Singles Chart and the first of two to reach the number 2 spot on the American charts, alongside " Lookin' Out My Back Door", in which they were unable to interrupt the six-week run of the successful number one, " Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel. "Malibu Beach Nightmare" (also known simply as "Malibu Beach") is a single and EP released only in the UK by the Finnish rock and glam punk band Hanoi Rocks. The song is from their 1983 album, ''Back to Mystery City'', but the single was released just before the album in the UK. The song was written by the band's guitarist and primary songwriter, Andy McCoy. The EP's second song, "Taxi Driver", is from the band's third album, ''Self Destruction Blues'', and was also released on the '' Love's An Injection'' EP and single. "Taxi Driver" was recorded almost in one take at Farmyard Studio, outside London. "Taxi Driver" remains one of Hanoi Rocks' most well-known songs. Don't You Ever Leave Me
"Don't You Ever Leave Me" is a song by Finnish glam metal band Hanoi Rocks, released as the third and final single from their 1984 album ''Two Steps from the Move''. "Don't You Ever Leave Me" made its first appearance on Hanoi Rocks' first album '' Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks'', but it had more punky atmosphere and faster tempo. They remade the version, which the band loved much more. It is usually considered one of the best songs by Hanoi Rocks. The band's guitarist Andy McCoy commented on the song in Finnish ''Soundi'' magazine in 1984: "Well, yeah, we screwed up that song so bad back then, that we had to remake it now. Until I Get You
"Until I Get You" is a single by the Finnish rock and glam punk band Hanoi Rocks. The band's guitarist and primary songwriter Andy McCoy wrote this song at the band's manager Seppo Vesterinen's house in Helsinki. McCoy hated the song but the band's drummer Razzle loved it, and wanted it on their next record. Ultimately McCoy also fell in love with the song. The song is a kind of ballad that explains Hanoi Rocks' own melodic style very well. Also, the arrangement for the song was inspired by Alice Cooper's "I'm Eighteen". American band L.A. ''Twelve Shots on the Rocks'' is the sixth studio album by the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks, released in 2002, however it was their first studio album since the band's break-up in 1985. "Fashion" is a single by the Finnish Rock music, rock and glam punk band Hanoi Rocks from the album ''Street Poetry''. The single was released on 16 May 2007 in Finland and Europe and on 21 June in Japan. The single rose to number one on the Finnish singles list on 23 May. The single also featured a cover of the Billy Bremner (musician), Billy Bremner song "Trouble Boys". Before the album's release, the band's guitarist Andy McCoy said that every song on the album had single-potential, but "Fashion" happened to be the first finished song. "Tragedy" is a single by the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks, from the album ''Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks'', but "Tragedy" was released a little before the release of the album. "Tragedy" and its B-side, "Café Avenue", are the most well-known songs from Hanoi Rocks's early career. "Tragedy" was written by the band's guitarist Andy McCoy when he was 15 or 16.
