Maersk Air UK
Maersk Air Ltd, trading as Maersk Air UK, was a British airline which operated between 1993 and 2003. It flew out of Birmingham Airport to domestic and European destinations under a British Airways franchise agreement. The company was owed by the eponymous A. P. Møller–Mærsk Group through its Danish subsidiary airline Maersk Air and was based at the grounds of Birmingham Airport. At its peak it operated twelve aircraft and had 490 employees. The airline was created through the demerger of Brymon European Airways, which had been created through the mergers of Brymon Airways and Birmingham European Airways (BEA). Plymouth City Airport was an airport located within the Plymouth, City of Plymouth north northeast of the city centre in Devon, England at Derriford (formerly Roborough, South Hams, Roborough). The airport opened on this site in 1925 and was officially opened by the future king Edward VIII, as Prince of Wales, in 1931. The airport is owned by Plymouth City Council and leased to Plymouth-based company Sutton Harbour Group under its wholly owned subsidiary Plymouth City Airport Limited that has directors who also have interests / directorships in Newquay Airport. Brymon European Airways was an airline formed in November 1992 by the merger of Birmingham European Airways and Brymon Airways. The latter were the original operators of the Dash 7 aircraft in the UK and conducted the trials of the type at the embryonic London City Airport. The merger was short-lived. The de Havilland Canada DHC-7, popularly known as the Dash 7, is a turboprop-powered regional airliner with short take-off and landing (STOL) performance. Variants were built with 50–54 seats. It first flew in 1975 and remained in production until 1988 when the parent company, de Havilland Canada, was purchased by Boeing in 1986 and later sold to Bombardier. In 2006 Bombardier sold the type certificate for the aircraft design to Victoria-based manufacturer Viking Air. Birmingham European Airways was originally established in 1983 (as Birmingham Executive Airways). The airline as its name implies was based at Birmingham Airport (BHX/EGBB) in the UK and operated services geared towards business travellers. London City Airport is an international airport in London, England. It is located in the Royal Docks in the London Borough of Newham, Borough of Newham, about east of the City of London and east of Canary Wharf. Heron Quays is an area of the Canary Wharf development on the Isle of Dogs, part of the London Docklands. It is served by a railway station on the London Docklands Light Railway network, Heron Quays DLR station, which was moved south after the development was expanded. Three skyscrapers dominate the area: 25 Bank Street, 40 Bank Street and 10 Upper Bank Street. Heron Quays was an area of dockside and warehousing which separated South Dock and Middle (Export) Dock of the West India Docks complex, completed in 1802 to service Britain's rapidly increasing trade with its global empire.
