Bruegel (think Tank)
Bruegel is a think tank devoted to policy research on economic issues. Based in Brussels, it launched its operations in 2005 and currently conducts research in five different focus areas with the aim of improving economic debate and policy-making. Bruegel was recognised as the best international economics think tank worldwide (non-US) and the second best think tank worldwide (US and non-US), according to the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Report. It has a governance and funding model based on memberships from Member States of the European Union, international corporations, and other institutions. History Bruegel's name is a reference to Pieter Bruegel, the 16th-century painter whose work epitomises unvarnished and innovative depictions of life in Europe. Annamaria Lusardi
Annamaria Lusardi is an Italian-born economist and the Denit Trust Distinguished Scholar and Professor of Economics and Accountancy at Stanford University School of Business. In 2011 she founded and serves as the Academic Director of the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center. Her interests focus on financial literacy and financial education. Pablo Hernández De Cos
Pablo Hernández de Cos (born 20 January 1971) is a Spanish economist and monetary policymaker who has served as the general manager of the Bank for International Settlements since 1 July 2025. He served as the 70th governor of the Bank of Spain from 2018 to 2024. He also served as chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and as chair of the Advisory Technical Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board. Heather Grabbe is Senior Fellow at the think-tank Bruegel in Brussels, Belgium. Since 2021, she is Visiting Professor at University College London and at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. She was previously the director of the Open Society European Policy Institute. Uri Dadush is a non-resident scholar at Bruegel, based in Washington, DC, and a Senior Fellow at the OCP Policy Center in Rabat, Morocco. Jean-Claude Trichet (; born 20 December 1942) is an economist and high-ranking French official who was President of the European Central Bank from 2004 to 2011. Previous to his assumption of the presidency he was Governor of the Bank of France from 1993 to 2004.
