''The Brooklyn Rail'' is an American publication and platform for the arts, culture, humanities, and politics, based in Brooklyn, New York. It features in-depth critical essays, fiction, poetry, as well as interviews with artists, critics, and curators, and reviews of art, music, dance, film, books, and theater. The ''Rail's'' print publication is published ten times a year and distributed to universities, galleries, museums, bookstores, and other organizations around the world free of charge. The ''Rail'' operates a small press called Rail Editions, which publishes literary translations, poetry, and art criticism. In addition to the small press, the ''Rail'' has also organized panel discussions, readings, film screenings, music and dance performances, and has curated exhibitions through a program called Rail Curatorial Projects. Mei-mei Berssenbrugge
Mei-mei Berssenbrugge (; born October 5, 1947, in Beijing, China) is a contemporary poet. Winner of two American Book Awards, her work is often associated with the Language School, the poetry of the New York School, phenomenology, and visual art. She is married to the painter Richard Tuttle, with whom she has frequently collaborated. Personal life Berssenbrugge was born in Beijing to Chinese and Dutch-American parents. Her mother was an educated mathematician, and her American father was born to first-generation Dutch emigrants. She grew up near Boston, Massachusetts, and was educated starting at Barnard College of Columbia University, then transferring to Reed College, where she earned a B.A. in 1969. Benoît Gréan
Benoît Gréan (born 26 July 1957) is a French poet. He was born in Strasbourg, moved to New York City in the mid 1980s, and then settled in Rome. Gréan has published fourteen volumes of poetry in French. Several of his works have been translated and published into German, Greek, Italian and English. In Germany, Hochroth has published him bilingually and he was a contributor to several issues of the German painter Markus Lüpertz's '' Frau und Hund''. His volume ''Monstres tièdes'' has been translated by Massimo Sannelli and published in a bilingual Italian edition as ''Mostri tiepidi'' with a preface by Valerio Magrelli. Biography Goodeve was born in Middlebury, Connecticut, where she lived until her family moved to Windham, Vermont. Her brother is actor Grant Goodeve. Paul Dennis Miller (born September 6, 1970), known professionally as DJ Spooky, That Subliminal Kid, is an American Electronic music, electronic and experimental hip hop musician whose work is often called by critics "illbient" or "trip hop". Norma Cole (born May 12, 1945) is a Canadian poet, visual artist, translator, and curator. Neeli Cherkovski (born Nelson Innis Cherry; July 1, 1945 – March 19, 2024) was an American poet and memoirist, who resided from 1975 onwards in San Francisco. Dan Cameron (born February 12, 1956, in Utica, New York) is an American contemporary art curator. He has served as senior curator for Next Wave Visual Art at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), an annual exhibition of emerging Brooklyn-based artists since 2002. He is also a member of the graduate faculty of School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, where he teaches the MFA symposium each spring for second-year students.
