Brocklesby Church - Geograph
Brocklesby is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated south of Habrough, south-west of Immingham, it is located close to the border of both North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire and is near Humberside International Airport. Its location makes it the most northerly village within the East Midlands region. According to the 2001 Census, Brocklesby had a population of 124. At the 2011 census, the population was listed in the civil parish of Keelby. The parish includes the settlement of Limber Parva (or Little Limber), which lies to the south-west, and is the site of a deserted medieval village, defined by earthworks and crop marks of crofts, hollow ways and rectilinear enclosures. Newsham Abbey was located to the north of the village in the hamlet of Newsham, now part of the Brocklesby civil parish. Brocklesby had a railway station until the 1990s, and it was closed. West Lindsey is a Non-metropolitan district, local government district in Lincolnshire, England. Its council is based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, Gainsborough, the district's largest town. Charles Anderson-Pelham, 1st Baron Yarborough FRS FSA (3 February 1749 – 22 September 1823) was a British politician. Early life Anderson-Pelham was born Charles Anderson in Broughton, Lincolnshire, the eldest son and heir of Francis Anderson and his wife Eleanor (née Carter) Anderson. His father died in 1758 and in 1763, he succeeded to the estates of his great-uncle Charles Pelham and assumed the additional surname of Pelham. In 1768, his mother remarried to Robert Vyner of Gautby, Lincolnshire, who was an MP. From his mother's second marriage, he had a younger half-brother, Robert Vyner. Lancelot "Capability" Brown (born c. 1715–16, baptised 30 August 1716 – 6 February 1783) was an English gardener and landscape architect, a notable figure in the history of the English landscape garden style. Unlike other architects including William Kent, he was a hands-on gardener and provided his clients with a full turnkey service, designing the gardens and park, and then managing their landscaping and planting. Claud Stephen Phillimore, 4th Baron Phillimore (15 January 1911 – 29 March 1994) was an English architect specialising in larger country houses who succeeded to his family's title in 1990. Reginald Blomfield
Sir Reginald Theodore Blomfield (20 December 1856 – 27 December 1942) was a prolific British architect, garden designer and author of the Victorian and Edwardian period. Early life and career Blomfield was born at Bow rectory in Devon, where his father, the Rev. George John Blomfield (1822−1900), was rector. His mother, Isabella, was a first cousin of his father and the second daughter of Charles James Blomfield, Bishop of London. Habrough Railway Station
Habrough railway station serves the village of Habrough and the town of Immingham in North East Lincolnshire, England. It was built by the Great Grimsby and Sheffield Junction Railway in 1848. Up until 1988 there was a signal box at the station on the south side of the track and east side of the road with manually operated gates. It was of typical Great Central Railway signal box design. The main buildings were located on the eastbound platform and were linked to the westbound one via a footbridge, but both have also been demolished and the level crossing was converted to an AHB (Automatic Half-Barrier) crossing. In 2015/2016, it was converted to a full-barrier level crossing with Obstacle Detection (MCB-OD). The station is managed by East Midlands Railway, and is also served by TransPennine Express services. Brocklesby Railway Station
Brocklesby railway station was a station near Brocklesby, Lincolnshire. It was formally closed by British Rail on 3 October 1993. The station was located to suit the Charles Anderson-Pelham, 2nd Earl of Yarborough, Earl of Yarborough, in his capacity as chairman of the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway who built the line. It included a private waiting room for the earl. The building was designed by architects Weightman and Hadfield in the Tudor Gothic style used throughout the line. The building is listed as grade II, in which the style is referred to as Jacobean. The unusual platform-based signal box is also a grade II listed building and became redundant due to resignalling works in December 2015. On 27 March 1907, two freight trains collided at Brocklesby.
