Britt Wadner
Britt Wadner (16 January 16, 1915 Linköping - 13 March 1987 Båstad) was a Swedish pirate radio manager. Career In 1959, she became an ad manager for Radio Syd. In 1962, the Pirate Radio Act (also called "Lex Radio Nord") was introduced in Sweden, which banned ownership of radio transmitters and also prohibited broadcasts from international waters if they disrupted Swedish Radio. She purchased her boat ''Cheeta I'', and continued broadcasting. In 1966, she moved to Gambia, where she was involved in radio and tourism and was also allowed to broadcast from land. Imprisonment Wadner was sentenced three times for violation of the law, the last time being given three months in prison. The sentence was served at the Hinseberg women's prison. Båstad
Båstad () is a locality and the seat of Båstad Municipality, Scania County, Sweden, with approximately 5,000 permanent residents. It is however one of Sweden's most typical summer resorts. The population is presumably more than twice as large between April and September, and even larger during July. Its municipality follows a similar pattern: some 15,000 permanent residents, but more than 30,000 during July. Some villages within the municipality are almost empty during the winter, but have more than 2,000 "summer guests" during July. Torekov is a good example of this. Pirate radio or a pirate radio station is a radio station that broadcasts without a valid license. In some cases, radio stations are considered legal where the signal is transmitted, but illegal where the signals are received—especially when the signals cross a national boundary. Radio Syd
Radio Syd ("Radio South") was a Swedish pirate radio station. It began life as ''Skånes Radio Mercur'', the first "pirate radio" in Sweden, and started to broadcast in December 1958. History The station was started by a young Swede, Nils-Eric Svensson, who had studied radio and television in USA and had worked for a short period at the Swedish state run broadcasting company. "Skånes Radio Mercur" leased air time from the Danish pirate radio station Radio Mercur, that had started broadcasting a few months earlier from a Panama registered ship "Cheeta", anchored in international waters between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Malmö, Sweden. The broadcasts were on the FM band, and covered only the densely populated southwestern part of Sweden, Skåne, with the cities Malmö, Landskrona and Helsingborg. Hinseberg Women's Prison
Hinseberg Manor ( sv, Hinsebergs herrgård) is a women's prison as of today but has formerly served as a residence for several bourgeois and noble families. The property is located next to lake Väringen in Frövi, Sweden. The manor that exists today was built in 1803 by Jacob Niclas Tersmeden (1745–1822). Architecture Hinseberg is architecturally inspired by the Italian Renaissance style. The architect was Johan Gustaf Forsgren. History The first known owner of the property was Mats Pedersson, he was first mentioned in the year of 1420. He belonged to the so-called that owned Hinseberg for six generations, spanning almost 200 years. During the 17th century the property was owned by Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie but he could not keep up economically so he had to sell Hinseberg, including several other properties around lake Väringen to the Dalman family.
