Brian Benoit
Brian Benoit is a former guitarist for The Dillinger Escape Plan.Harkness, Geoff"Quintet overcomes tragedy" ''Lawrence Journal-World'', September 7, 2000, p. Mag-2. Retrieved on May 30, 2013. Before playing in Dillinger, Brian played in Jesuit with future Converge bassist Nate Newton. Brian joined Dillinger Escape Plan prior to recording '' Calculating Infinity'' and performed on the EP '' Irony Is a Dead Scene'' and LP ''Miss Machine''. In late 2004, just after the release of ''Miss Machine'', Brian developed nerve damage in his left hand, which forced him to leave the band in 2005. He was replaced on tour by James Love and Jeff Tuttle, though Ben Weinman was the only guitar player on subsequent releases. Frontman Greg Puciato said that Brian still had a place in the band should he be able to return; he eventually did return for two shows on December 27 and 28, 2017. Mathcore
Mathcore is a subgenre of hardcore punk and metalcore influenced by post-hardcore, extreme metal and math rock that developed during the 1990s. Bands in the genre emphasize complex and fluctuant rhythms through the use of irregular time signatures, polymeters, syncopations and tempo changes. Early mathcore lyrics were addressed from a realistic worldview and with a Pessimism, pessimistic, wikt:defiant, defiant, Resentment, resentful or Sarcasm, sarcastic point of view. In the 1990s, the hardcore punk scene started to embrace extreme metal openly. It also started to become highly ideologically driven, with most of the popular bands being part of subcultures. Greg Puciato
Gregory John Puciato (born March 27, 1980) is an American musician best known as the former lead vocalist and lyricist of the metalcore band the Dillinger Escape Plan. In addition to being a solo artist, he currently fronts Better Lovers and the Black Queen, and is a member of Killer Be Killed, in which he also plays guitar. He also performs alongside Jerry Cantrell providing backup vocals and lead vocals on Layne Staley-sung songs for Cantrell’s solo tours. In 2018, Puciato and visual artist Jesse Draxler co-founded the art collective and record label Federal Prisoner. Puciato is noted for the intensity of his live performances, wide vocal and stylistic range, outspoken views, and controversy stemming from his bands' performances and interviews. The Dillinger Escape Plan Members
The Dillinger Escape Plan (DEP) is an American metalcore band from Morris Plains, New Jersey. Formed in early 1997, the group originally featured vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, lead guitarist Ben Weinman, rhythm guitarist Derek Brantley, bassist and keyboardist Adam Doll, and drummer and keyboardist Chris Pennie. The group currently consists of Weinman (a constant member) and Minakakis (who rejoined when the band reunited in 2023), alongside bassist Liam Wilson (since 2000), rhythm guitarist James Love (who first joined in 2005) and drummer Billy Rymer (since 2009). History DEP evolved from an earlier hardcore punk group called Arcane in March 1997, and originally featured Minakakis, Weinman, Brantley, Doll and Pennie. Ben Weinman
Benjamin A. Weinman (born August 8, 1975) is an American musician, most notable for being the lead guitarist and primary songwriter of the mathcore band the Dillinger Escape Plan (DEP). He is the founder and sole constant member of the DEP, he is currently playing rhythm guitar with the crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies and lead guitar in the progressive rock supergroup Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. Weinman was named one of SPIN Magazine's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time and one of the 20 Most Influential Metal Guitarists Of The Modern Era by VH1.
