"Prez" is the name of several characters appearing in comics published by DC Comics. The original was Prez Rickard, the first teenage President of the United States, who appeared in a short-lived comic series by writer Joe Simon and artist Jerry Grandenetti in 1973 and 1974. Similar characters have appeared since then, revisiting the concept or paying homage to the original character. In 2015, DC published a miniseries about a teenage girl named Beth Ross who is elected President via Twitter in the year 2036. Story Following the real-world passage of the 26th Amendment in 1971, which lowered the minimum vote age to 18 nationwide, an amendment is passed allowing teenagers to also be elected to public office. Teenage Prez Rickard – named by his mother with the dream of him someday becoming President – takes the initiative of fixing the clocks in his town of Steadfast to run on time, making him a local hero. Jerry Grandenetti
Charles J. "Jerry" Grandenetti (April 15, 1926 – February 19, 2010) was an American comic book artist and advertising art director, best known for his work with writer-artist Will Eisner on the celebrated comics feature " The Spirit", and for his decade-and-a-half run on many DC Comics war series. He also co-created the DC comic book '' Prez'' with Joe Simon. Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein's 1962 drawing '' Jet Pilot'' is based on a Grandenetti comic-book panel on the cover of DC's '' All-American Men of War'' #89 ( cover-dated Feb. 1962), and Lichtenstein's 1964 triptych " As I Opened Fire" is based on panels by Grandenetti in "Wingmate of Doom" in issue #90 (April 1962). The "DC Explosion" and "DC Implosion" were two events in 1978 – the first an official marketing campaign, the second a sardonic reference to it – in which American comics company DC Comics expanded their roster of publications, then abruptly cut it back. The DC Explosion was part of an ongoing initiative at DC to regain market share by increasing the number of titles they published, while also increasing page counts and cover prices. The so-called "DC Implosion" was the result of the publisher experiencing losses that year due to a confluence of factors, and cancelling a large number of ongoing and planned series in response. Dream of the Endless is a fictional character, an anthropomorphic personification who first appeared in the first issue of '' The Sandman'', written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics. One of the seven Endless, who are inconceivably powerful beings older and greater than gods, Dream is both lord and personification of all dreams and stories, and all that is not in reality (which, in turn, Dream may define by his existence). He has taken many names, including '' Morpheus'', '' Oneiros'', ''Kai'ckul'', and the ''Sandman'', and his appearance can change depending on the person who is seeing him. ''The Sandman'' is a comic book written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics. Witchcraft is the use of magic by a person called a witch. Supergirl (Kara Zor-El)
Supergirl (real name Kara Zor-El) is a superheroine appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. She was created by Otto Binder and designed by Al Plastino. Danvers first appeared in the story "The Supergirl from Krypton" in ''Action Comics'' #252 (May 1959). Kara is the biological cousin of Kal-El, who went on to adopt the name of Clark Kent and the superhero identity Superman. Her father, Zor-El, is the brother of Superman's father, Jor-El.
