Samseong-Dong is an affluent neighborhood or ward of Gangnam-gu in Seoul, South Korea. The area has a large concentration of upscale shopping malls, popular restaurants and hotels such as the Ramada Seoul Hotel and the Hyatt Park Hotel. Samseong-dong is also home to some nightclubs. Gangnam District ( ; , ) is one of the 25 local government districts which make up the city of Seoul, South Korea. Gangnam translates to "South of the ( Han) River". A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. Seoul Subway Line 9, operated by Seoul Metro Line9 Corporation, is a subway line in Seoul. The line runs east from Gaehwa Station (local train terminal) or Gimpo Airport Station (express train terminal, connecting to Line 5 and Airport Railroad) along the south bank of the Han River towards VHS Medical Center in Gangdong. In 2019, Line 9 has an annual ridership of 225 million or about 616,000 people per day. Line 9 was constructed as a double track subway, but several stations feature passing loops enable express trains to overtake local trains. Bongeunsa
Bongeunsa () is a Buddhist temple located in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu in Seoul, South Korea. It was founded in 794 during the reign of King Wonseong by State Preceptor Yeonhoe (), then the highest ranking monk of Silla. The temple was originally named Gyeonseongsa (). It is located on the slope of Sudo Mountain, across the street from the COEX Mall. History Joseon Dynasty During the Joseon Dynasty, Buddhism in Korea was severely suppressed. However, The temple began to be known as Bongeunsa when it was reconstructed in 1498 under the patronage of Queen Jeonghyeon, a Joseon Queen. The term Bongeunsa means the act of honoring the king, which here can be understood as taking the form of praying for king Seongjong's eternal life.
