Boischatel () is a municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. The town was originally called Saint-Jean-de-Boischatel. Geography The town itself is located along the Montmorency River and St. Lawrence River. Near the boundary with Beauport are the Montmorency Falls, where 35,000 litres of water per second fall from a height one-and-a-half times greater than that of Niagara Falls. The Ferrée river is a tributary on the east bank of the Montmorency River. It flows in the municipalities of L'Ange-Gardien and Boischatel, in the La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Montmorency Falls
The Montmorency Falls () is a large waterfall on the Montmorency River in Quebec, Canada. Location The falls are located on the boundary between the borough of Beauport and Boischatel, about from the heart of old Quebec City. The area surrounding the falls is protected within the Montmorency Falls Park (). The falls are at the mouth of the Montmorency River where it drops over the cliff shore into the Saint Lawrence River, opposite the western end of the Île d'Orleans. The waterfalls are 83 m (272') tall, a full 30 m (99') higher than Niagara Falls. Access and tourism Around 970,000 visitors a year visit Montmorency Falls. L'Ange-Gardien, Capitale-Nationale
L'Ange-Gardien () is a municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It is part of La Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality. History First settled by French colonists around 1633, the Parish of Saints-Anges-Gardiens (French for "holy guardian angels") was established by the first bishop of New France, François de Laval, in 1664, making it the third oldest parish in the Côte-de-Beaupré. Its chapel was built in 1670. The place was originally known as Longue-Pointe (as shown on the 1641 map by Jean Bourdon) and as L'Ange Gardien by 1685 (as shown on the map by Jean de Deshayes).
