Bob Layton (newscaster)
Robert West Layton (born 1944), known as Bob Layton, is an author and former Canadian newscaster and radio host in Edmonton, Alberta. Life Layton was born in England during World War II. As an infant, Layton and his family spent a considerable amount of time in a trench in their garden during air raids. A short time later, the family moved to Canada and he was raised in Taber, Alberta. He worked for Canada Post in Calgary before beginning his broadcasting career in 1970. After attending the Columbia School of Broadcasting, he started his broadcasting career at CKNL in Fort St. John, British Columbia in 1970, but left one year later to work for 630 CHED in Edmonton, Alberta, where he eventually became news director of the Corus radio stations in Edmonton, including CHED, iNews 880, 925 Fresh FM and CISN Country in 1995. Brentford is a suburban town in West (London sub region), West London, England and part of the London Borough of Hounslow. Ralph Klein
Ralph Philip Klein (November 1, 1942 – March 29, 2013) was a Canadian politician and journalist who served as the 12th premier of Alberta and leader of the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta from 1992 until his retirement in 2006. Klein also served as the List of mayors of Calgary, 32nd mayor of Calgary from 1980 to 1989. Ralph was born and mostly grew up in Calgary, Alberta. After dropping out of High School in grade 11, Klein joined the Royal Canadian Air Force reserves for one year and then attended the Calgary Business College. The Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada, or RTDNA Canada, is a Canadian membership organization of radio, television and online journalists, news directors, producers, executives and educators. It was founded in 1962, as the Canadian equivalent of the Radio Television Digital News Association in the United States. CHQT
CHQT was an AM broadcasting, AM radio station in Edmonton, Edmonton, Alberta. Owned by Corus Entertainment, the station first launched in August 1965. In June 2008, after having broadcast various music-based formats, CHQT flipped to an All-news radio, all-news format as a counterpart to sister news/talk station CHED (AM), CHED. In June 2024, CHQT was closed by owner Corus Entertainment as a part of company-wide cuts, and began to simulcast CHED for a transitional period.
