Billy Byars Jr.
William Goebel Byars Jr. (August 14, 1936 – June 15, 1997) was an American film producer, best known as the founder of Lyric International and the producer of ''The Genesis Children''. Outside of regular film production, Byars Jr. was a child pornographer, running the DOM-Lyric operation with gay civil rights activist Guy Strait in the early 1970s. Early life Byars was born in Texas in 1936. He would soon be adopted through the Edna Gladney, Edna Gladney Foundation by Billy Byars Sr., who was a wealthy oilman. Byars described his father as a "Tyler, Texas, wikt:wildcatter, wildcatter". It was also claimed that Byars Sr. had become a millionaire at 20 and broke at 21, before becoming a millionaire once again at 25. Byars Sr. was friends with Dwight D. Eisenhower, President Eisenhower and had on a prior occasion visited him at the White House. Byars Sr. had also sold cattle to the Gettysburg Farm. The Genesis Children
''The Genesis Children'', originally titled ''?'' before its release, is a 1972 American art film. It was directed by Anthony Aikman and co-written by Aikman and Billy Byars Jr., with the narration written by Barbara Smith. It was a production of Lyric Films International and Byars and Associates. The movie premiered on August 4, 1972, at the Encore Theater at 5308 Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. Although it was called "very benign" by Aaron Stern of the Motion Picture Association, MPAA, it received an X rating due to lengthy full nudity scenes of adolescent boys. Synopsis ''The Genesis Children'' is a non-narrative film with a theme of "the unity of mankind". The story is about eight American students of an international school in Rome who follow a Classified advertising, want ad placed by a mysterious man: "Wanted: boys to act in a play, to be performed before God."
