__NOTOC__ Billiatt Wilderness Protection Area is a protected area located about north of Lameroo in South Australia. The wilderness protection area occupies in land in the gazetted localities of Billiatt, Lameroo and Sandalwood. The wilderness protection area was proclaimed under the ''Wilderness Protection Act 1992'' on 24 July 2008 on land excised from the Billiatt Conservation Park. It is classified as an IUCN Category Ib protected area. Its boundaries were created on 28 September 2000 for the "long established local name". Its name is derived from the Billiatt Conservation Park and the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Billiatt. The principal land use within the locality is conservation with the majority of its land area being occupied by the Billiatt Wilderness Protection Area. The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Billiatt had a population of zero. Lameroo, South Australia
Lameroo is a town in the Murray Mallee region of South Australia. It is on the Mallee Highway and Pinnaroo railway line about 40 km west of the Victorian border, or 210 km east of Adelaide. It is primarily a service town for the surrounding rural areas, growing grain and sheep. Lameroo now includes the former settlements of Kulkami, Mulpata, Wirha and Gurrai, which were on the Peebinga railway line, and Wilkawatt, which was between Parrakie and Lameroo on the Pinnaroo railway. At the 2016 census, the locality of Lameroo had a population of 852 of which 562 lived in and around its town centre. Sandalwood is a town and locality in the Australian state of South Australia located about east of the state capital of Adelaide. Sandalwood lies between Karoonda and Alawoona on the Karoonda Highway and Loxton railway line. It was founded as a siding on the new railway line, which opened in 1913. Description The conservation park occupies a parcel of land known as ‘Allotment 101 of Deposited Plan 51151’ in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Auld in the locality of Sandalwood. The country is characterised by sand dunes with a mosaic of open mallee scrub. Ridge-fruited and red-tipped slender leaf mallees add colour to the dunes with broombush growing in the mottled shade.
