Big Business (band)
Big Business is an American stoner metal, stoner/sludge metal band founded in 2004 by bassist/vocalist Jared Warren (Karp (band), Karp) and drummer Coady Willis (The Murder City Devils). They formed in Seattle, Washington and have been based in Los Angeles, California since 2006. Their music is characterized by a bombastic and frantic style, and for most of their existence Big Business has been a bass-drums duo with occasional other musicians contributing. History The band released its first Tour EP and the vinyl version of their first album, ''Head for the Shallow'', on January 25, 2005, through Wäntage USA. The CD version of ''Head For the Shallow'' was released by Hydra Head Records, the first of a three album run. In late 2006, after relocating to Los Angeles, Jared and Coady both became members of the Melvins, first appearing on ''(A) Senile Animal''. The Minimoog Voyager or Voyager is a monophonic analog synthesizer, designed by Robert Moog and released in 2002 by Moog Music. The Voyager was modeled after the classic Minimoog synthesizer that was popular in the 1970s, and is meant to be a successor to that instrument. History In an interview in 1998, Moog Music (then Big Briar) founder Robert (Bob) Moog announced that he planned to release an updated version of the Minimoog. The new synthesizer promised to have modern features, yet continue to be authentic to the original sound quality. The development process took several years, with a non-working concept model first shown to the public at the 2000 NAMM Show and garnering significant interest. Joe Preston (musician)
Joe Preston (born October 1969) is an American bass guitarist and a former band member of the rock bands Earth, Melvins, Men's Recovery Project, The Need and High on Fire. Preston has also played with Sunn O))), and has his long-running solo project called Thrones. In 2007, he joined Harvey Milk in the studio for the recording of ''Life... Dale Crover
Dale Crover (born October 23, 1967) is an American rock musician. Crover is best known as the drummer for Melvins and has also been the drummer for Men of Porn, Shrinebuilder, Crystal Fairy and, for a brief time, Nirvana. He is also guitarist and vocalist for Altamont. He has toured with Fantômas (filling in for Dave Lombardo), Off!, and Redd Kross. In 2016, Rolling Stone listed him as the 69th greatest drummer of all time. Biography Melvins recruited Crover on drums in 1984 from an Iron Maiden cover band, following original drummer Mike Dillard's departure. Crover has been one of the two constant members of the Melvins, along with frontman Buzz Osborne, and is the only band member besides Osborne to appear on all their studio albums. Dave Hernandez
Dave Hernandez (born September 20, 1970, Guadalajara, Mexico) is a Mexican guitarist, singer and songwriter. He is best known as a former member of the American indie rock band The Shins, with whom he recorded four studio albums. Hernandez is currently the guitarist of the post-punk band The Intelligence, and is the vocalist and guitarist of the punk band Scared of Chaka. Hernandez met Shins frontman James Mercer when both lived in Albuquerque playing in underground bands in the early/mid 1990s. Hernandez's punk band Scared of Chaka and Mercer's indie pop band Flake were both part of the thriving Albuquerque independent rock scene that spawned bands like The Drags, The Rondelles, and Henrys Dress. Thrones is the solo project of American bassist Joe Preston. Biography Thrones began in 1994 with an untitled cassette on the Punk in My Vitamins? label. He soon released the "Reddleman" single. In 1996, Thrones signed to Communion Records to issue the full-length album ''Alraune''. Thrones then signed to Kill Rock Stars and released the single "The Suckling". In late 1997, Preston began a recording project under the working title "White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit". Phil Ek is an American record producer, engineer and mixer. Ek began his career in Seattle, Washington in the early 1990s recording live sound in clubs. He then moved into studio recording, recording small projects and demos for local bands. Around this time, Ek was frequently working with influential producer Jack Endino.
