Julia Biel is a British jazz singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Early life Biel was born in London on 22 February 1976. She was brought up in Sutton, then studied French and German at the University of Oxford. There, she was in a band with Idris Rahman. She was a pianist first, then developed her singing. Later life and career Biel won the Perrier Young Jazz Vocalist of the Year in 2000, which brought her more attention. She then joined the F-IRE Collective. In 2005 she made her recording debut as a leader, with the album ''Not Alone''. She also appeared on the Polar Bear album ''Dimlit''. Her compositions appear on the Unity Collective EP ''Love in the Dead of Night'' and on recordings by guitarist Jonny Phillips. Gabriel Biel
Gabriel Biel (; 1420 to 1425 – 7 December 1495) was a German scholastic philosopher and member of the Canons Regular of the Congregation of Windesheim, who were the clerical counterpart to the Brethren of the Common Life. Biel was born in Speyer and died in Einsiedel near Tübingen. In 1432 he was ordained to the priesthood and entered Heidelberg University to obtain a baccalaureate. He succeeded academically and became an instructor in the faculty of the arts for three years, until he pursued a higher degree at the University of Erfurt. His first stay was brief, lasting only until he transferred to the University of Cologne. He did not complete his degree there either, and would return to Erfurt in 1451 to finish. Tito Biel
Tito Biel Chuor (or Chol, Chor) was a high-ranking commander in the South Sudan Defense Forces (SSDF) during the Second Sudanese Civil War (1983–2005). Tito Biel, of the Dok section of the Nuer people, was originally in the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), but joined Riek Machar's breakaway faction in 1991. He followed Riek Machar when he became reconciled with the Sudan government in 1997, joining the SSDF. Major General Tito Biel led SSDF forces in 1998/1999 in clashes with Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) troops and militia under Major General Paulino Matiep. By April 1999 Tito Biel's SSDF forces in Western Upper Nile were cooperating with the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) forces in Bahr el Ghazal, who were supplying arms. Ulrich Biel
Ulrich Biel (17 May 1907, in Berlin-Charlottenburg – 6 January 1996, in Berlin) was a German politician and representative of the Christian Democratic Union. After studying law and political science in 1934, he emigrated to the United States because of his Jewish origins. After the end of World War II, he returned to Berlin as an American officer but became a German citizen again. Political career In 1946, Biel was "a captain in the U.S. Army and head of the political division of the staff of the then Colonel, Frank L. Howley, the U.S. commandant in Berlin."
