Beyond Brotherhood
''Beyond Brotherhood'' () is a 2017 Panamanian drama film directed by Arianne Benedetti. It was selected as the Panamanian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Plot Two siblings, Joshua and Mia, are orphaned when their parents are killed in a domestic accident. Before she dies, their mother asks Joshua to promise always to take care of Mia, but the two of them are sent to separate orphanages. They escape, and grow up together on the streets. When they are older, they discover that their parents' insurance company failed to contact them after the accident, and the money they receive enables them to open a restaurant. Mia also wins a scholarship to study psychology and falls in love with her professor, Chris Vianni. This creates tension between her and Joshua. This is a list of submissions to the 90th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films.
