Beverly Wood is a film chemist from Chase City, Virginia. Wood worked as a post production editor and a designer of the two film processing technologies: Color Contrasting Enhancement (CCE) and Adjustable Contrast Enhancement (ACE). Early life and education Wood was born in 1956 in Chase City, Virginia, the child of Arnold Garrett Wood and Lillian Wood. Her father was the first African-American bank teller in Chase City. Motivated by her family, Wood pursued education throughout her youth and early adulthood. Chase City is a town in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, United States. Chase City was incorporated in 1873 and named for Salmon P. Chase, United States Chief Justice and Lincoln's Secretary of the Treasury. The population was 2,053 at the 2020 census. Tobacco and other crops are grown nearby. Herbert Kalmus
Herbert Thomas Kalmus (November 9, 1881 – July 11, 1963) was an American scientist and engineer who played a significant role in developing color motion picture film. Kalmus was the co-founder and president of the Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation. Biography Kalmus received a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1904; the "Tech" in Technicolor is partly a tribute to that school. He earned his doctorate at the University of Zurich and was a research associate at MIT from 1908 to 1910 before teaching physics, electrochemistry and metallurgy at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He was also a director of research for the Canadian government's electro-chemical laboratory.
