Bernard Kiala
Bernard Muia Kiala (born 14 July 1968), is the first Deputy Governor of Machakos County. He was born in Masinga Sub-County. Education Bernard Kiala holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from The University of Nairobi. Professional career Bernard Kiala has spent most of his career in the banking sector. He was employed by Trade Bank in 1993 after which he worked for CFC Stanbic Bank from 1994 to 2002. Political career In March 2013, Bernard Kiala was elected alongside Dr. Alfred Mutua as the Deputy Governor of Machakos County on a Wiper Democratic Movement Party ticket. Corruption accusations and counter-accusations between Dr. Alfred Mutua and Bernard Kiala have since 2014 created a frosty relationship between them. Kenyan Senate
The Senate of the Republic of Kenya is one of the two Houses of the Parliament of Kenya, along with the National Assembly. The Senate was first established as part of Kenya's 1963 Constitution. The National Super Alliance, known by the abbreviation NASA, was a Kenyan political coalition of opposition centre-left parties that was formed in January 2017. These parties include the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Wiper Democratic Movement (Wiper), Forum for the Restoration of Democracy - Kenya (FORD-Kenya), Amani National Congress (ANC), Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM), National Rainbow Coalition, Progressive Party of Kenya, Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) and the Muungano Party (MP). Wiper Democratic Movement – Kenya
The Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya (WDM-K), formally Orange Democratic Movement–Kenya (ODM–Kenya), is a political party in Kenya, which originated as a result of the 2005 Kenyan constitutional referendum. It is headed by Kalonzo Musyoka, who ran for president in 2007 and served as the vice-president in the Grand Coalition of Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga. 2017 Machakos County Gubernatorial Election
The 2017 Machakos gubernatorial election took place on 8 August 2017 to elect the governor and deputy governor of Machakos, concurrently with Machakos Senator to the Senate as other Counties and Machakos MPs to the Kenya National Assembly and Elections of County Assembly MCAs. Nomination of Candidates Incumbent governor Alfred Mutua had won the 2013 elections having run on a Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya ticket. The Deputy Governor of Machakos County is a constitutional office in the executive branch of the Government of Machakos County, Kenya. It is the second highest-ranking official in County government. Alfred Mutua
Dr. Alfred Nganga Mutua (born 22 August 1970) is a Kenyan journalist and politician who has been serving as Cabinet Secretary of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs under President William Ruto since 27 October 2022. Prior to joining the government, Mutua served as the 1st Governor of Machakos County for two terms, from 2013 to 2017 and from 2018 to 2022.
