Beppo (comics)
Beppo is a monkey superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, primarily those featuring Superman. Publication history Created by Otto Binder and George Papp, he first appeared in '' Superboy'' #76 (October 1959). He made sixteen appearances in ''Superman'' comics during the Silver Age of Comic Books. Fictional character biography Beppo is a Kryptonian alien who resembles an Earth monkey due to convergent evolution. He arrives on Earth after stowing away in Kal-El's escape rocket, lands in a jungle, and lives there for some time before reuniting with Superman and joining the Legion of Super-Pets. Beppo is erased from existence following the ''Crisis on Infinite Earths'' continuity reboot and does not appear for many years. Curt Swan
Douglas Curtis Swan (February 17, 1920 – June 17, 1996) was an American comics artist. The artist most associated with Superman during the period fans call the Bronze Age of Comic Books, Swan produced hundreds of covers and stories from the 1950s through the 1980s. Biography Early life and career Curt Swan was born in Minneapolis on February 17, 1920, the youngest of five children. Swan's Swedes, Swedish grandmother had shortened and Americanized the original family name of Svensson. Father John Swan worked for the Rail transport, railroads; mother Leontine Jessie Hanson had worked in a local hospital. As a boy, Swan's given name – Douglas – was shortened to "Doug," and, disliking the phonetic similarity to "Dog," Swan thereafter reversed the order of his given names and went by "Curtis Douglas," rather than "Douglas Curtis." An American comic book is a thin periodical literature originating in the United States, commonly between 24 and 64 pages, containing comics. While the form originated in 1933, American comic books first gained popularity after the 1938 publication of ''Action Comics'', which included the debut of the superhero Superman. ''Krypto the Superdog'' is an American animated television series produced by Warner Bros. Animation, based on Superman's canine companion Krypto, which premiered on Cartoon Network on March 25, 2005 (exactly 50 years after his comic debut), and aired on The CW's Saturday morning block Kids' WB from September 23, 2006, until September 15, 2007. 39 episodes were produced. A comic book series (based on the TV show) was published by DC Comics under the Johnny DC imprint, which lasted 6 issues, from 2006 to 2007.
